    Forget it. You're still not going to be able to shag Summer Glau, Morena Baccarin or Jewel Staite.

    Who can ignore Christina Hendricks? Those actresses don't hurt, but they aren't the biggest draw. I appreciate the camaraderie, wisecracks, and most of the crew have some quality or vice that resonates. It's easy to sympathize with their overarching concerns of honor among thieves and fighting a bumbling oppressor.

    The wiki page [wikipedia.org] has a lot of background info. That the Alliance was formed as a merger of the USA and China was news to me and has aged well as a premise. According to the show's creator, Joss Whedon:

    Fox was not happy that the show involved the "nobodies" who "get squished by policy" instead of the actual policy makers.

    They were also really not happy, according to some reports, about Wash and Zoe being happily married. Both because it reduced drama opportunities (they thought), and because they were in an interracial relationship dominated by the non-white woman and the white guy was totally cool with that.

      TBH, Wash is my least favorite character, since he's a whiner and I don't find it believable that he would be a good pilot, given his general slackerism. The interracial marriage doesn't bother me. I just wish the husband was less of a doofus.
