This. Star Trek posits technological solutions to all of our political problems. The politics of the Federation is just a way to equitably manage their abundance of free energy and technology. Since it's all essentially free, there's essentially no reason for people to be worried about all the "welfare" and "entitlements" everybody else is getting.
Star Trek is future Sweden, except if Sweden was rich enough to also provide their socialist state to the rest of the world, even all those "shithole countries" people seem to be so worried about.
