Canada Post says dog attacks on mail carriers have increased during pandemic:

We have seen an increase this year of incidents across the country," the Crown corporation said in an email to CTVNews.ca.

According to Canada Post, around 41 per cent of households in Canada have dogs. Postal service workers come into contact with pets when they drop off mail, and with everyone at home during the pandemic, the chances of them coming face-to-face with a dog is even greater than usual.

[...] Canada Post is asking homeowners not to open their doors during mail delivery, as this not only can make physical distancing harder, but can allow a dog to rush outside at an unsuspecting mail carrier. They are reminding the public to wait until a postal service worker has left to go pick up the mail or packages left on the doorstep.

What is is about mailmen that sets dogs off? Can't be the uniform - my dogs have never reacted badly to other uniforms. Sex? Maybe - my dogs have never reacted badly to mailwomen.

Or maybe dogs pick up on the fear of postmen of dogs and react to it. One guy used to slip a doggie treat through the mail slot - problem solved.

And the dog didn't even like Milkbone dog biscuits. Does ANY dog really like them?

But yes, keep your dogs inside or on a leash when walking them. Otherwise, they're not dogs, they're GODDAM DOGS!

And pick up after them, GODDAM IGNORANT PEOPLE!

What is is about mailmen that sets dogs off?

Studies show it is the unique flavor of "mailman's leg". Some dog treats may soon offer that flavor. Maybe even Milkbone brand.

My diversity tip of the day . . .
    don't say: mail man
    do say: male person

    And pick up after them

People who do not do this perhaps think that someone else, or the government, will do it for them.

What sets them off? A stranger coming up to the house and causing a bang when the mailbox cover slams shut? Having their safe environment disturbed seems to upset them. Or at least, disturb them while they are snoozing.

My parents' old dog used to wait for the postman since they knew what time they came around at. When they got old and deaf, the young dog would dash to the old dog's basket and woof in their ear when they saw a hint of a postman, so that they could stagger to the door and have a bark. I don't think they are scared of the postman, it's more of a daily ritual they've got obsessed about, and we weren't successful in training them out of it. I certainly tried. Maybe they see it as their duty to guard the house or something.

hmm, well this is slightly embarrassing, but I'd be remiss if I didn't correct you here. See that massive turd you found in your lawn, yeah that was NOT from the dog. When I was walking past your house I had to take a massive shit, and when you gotta go, well ya gotta go! Listen, if I had some TP or a plastic bag I would have gladly picked it up, but I didn't, so please blame me instead of the dog. On the bright side, at least you should now have a bad memory of me.

    Sincerely,

    Mr. Poopybutthole
