I see two local stories from local sources and I'm sure there are more.

FBI says it thwarted plot to violently overthrow elected government and kidnap elected governor and hold a "trial" for treason. (gee, who sounds treasonous here?)

Plot involved reaching out to members of a Michigan militia (according to federal affidavit). (I'm sure it was a "well regulated" militia of crazy lunatics with guns who have to "take back our country and our rats!".)

"Several members talked about murdering 'tyrants' or 'taking' a sitting governor," an FBI agent wrote in the affidavit.

More than 12 people were arrested late Wednesday on state and federal charges.

“The group talked about creating a society that followed the U.S. Bill of Rights and where they could be self-sufficient,” the FBI agent wrote.

The FBI was already tracking the militia in March after a local police department learned members were trying to obtain addresses of local law-enforcement officers, the FBI agent wrote.

In late June, Fox posted on Facebook a video in which he complained about the state’s judicial system and COVID-19 restrictions on gyms operating in Michigan.

"We ain't going to let 'em burn our f---in' state down. I don't give a f--- if there's only 20 or 30 of us, dude, we'll go out there and use deadly force," said Fox during the surveillance operation, according to an audio recording quoted in the affidavit.

“The lockdown has been a lightning rod for anti-government extremists in this country, and Gov. Whitmer has been on the forefront of their targeting,”

(And the US has 4 % of the world population but 20 % of the covid deaths. Before some idiot AC says [citation needed]... Google for numbers "worldwide covid deaths" 1.06M and "us covid deaths" 212K. Advanced mathematical technique called "division". Similarly Google for world and us population, use similar "division" technique.)

According to other news source, 13 charged in plot.

In Covid-19 news, Trump says it must have been gold star families that infected him with Covid-19. Because viruses are selective in that they only infect bad people such as those "losers and suckers".

Fun fact: Some people don't like facts.

The founders wanted Americans to be able to do things exactly like that. S'why the second amendment is what it is. Like everything else in life though, the consequences of your actions are on you.

Let me get this straight. You say that random folks should be allowed to kidnap and imprison someone they've *personally* adjudged to be acting against *their interpretation* of our governmental system.

Further, you believe that those same random people should be allowed to act as judge, jury and executioner of those they've *already* adjudged to be guilty of whatever they see as illegal/immoral/fattening.

You also say that such actions may not end well for those who take them.

    Is that correct?

I ask because I don't want to misunderstand your point of view. Thanks!

Keep flying that ignorance loud and proud! You're not 100% wrong, just missing a hell of a lot of details and giving these domestic terrorists way more credit than they deserve.

Idiots like this will drive the world further into authoritarian bullshit as it becomes obvious that people are too selfish to do things like protext their communities against a pandemic. We're seeing the results now, mask and lickdown states are faring much better than full open states. Relaxing lockdown measures results in people forgetting all about precautions and acting like the virus is gone.

Then we have a small but significant portion of the country applauding these efforts, and the Venn diagram for supporting police brutality and denying systemic racism has these folks in the middle. It is one thing to support Constitutional rights, something else to support terrorists in any way.

So now we have to figure out when context is important and when it is not? This is why we don't like debating with rightwingers. Just rude shifty bullcrap.

Allowed to? No. They have to take the risks and consequences of any action they take, same as the founders did.

    Have the ability to? Absofuckinglutely.

So I guess that means you're in the vicinity of Professor Bernardo de La Paz's concept of a Rational Anarchist [wikipedia.org]:

In terms of morals there is no such thing as a 'state'. Just men. Individuals. Each responsible for his own acts. I am free, no matter what rules surround me. If I find them tolerable, I tolerate them; if I find them too obnoxious, I break them. I am free, because I know that I alone am morally responsible for everything that I do.

      Does that about cover it?
