In other totally-not-a-slide-into-fascism news, peaceful protestors who had a permit to march were teargassed on the way to vote.

Peaceful march to the polls in North Carolina is met with police pepper spray and arrests, causing outcry on eve of election

They have elections in all those shithole dictatorial countries too. They just make sure the wrong people don't vote.

The participants in Saturday’s “I Am Change” march had intended to conclude at an early-voting site to emphasize turnout in the final days of the presidential campaign. Those plans were thrown into disarray when law-enforcement officers in riot gear and gas masks insisted demonstrators move off the street and clear county property, despite a permit authorizing their presence.

Was the peaceful march actually peaceful?

I've not yet seen anything that looked un-peaceful, TBH. On the other hand, "fiery but mostly peaceful" has become a thing in the past few months. Almost anything is possible, including the "protesters" being armed with AK-47s and grenade launchers.

And going to vote? I thought election day was tomorrow?

I voted in person last week. Most polling places are open for early voting. The number of people who have already voted already equaled ~2/3 of all votes recorded in 2016 Saturday evening.

Few people want to stand in line for hours on voting day, just to bring home the flu, a cold, covid, and some strange jungle rot.

Sir, exactly what the hell are you getting up to while waiting in line to vote? Enquiring minds want to know. And, if we should ever meet in line while waiting to vote,...I want you to keep your hands to yourself at all times. Just so you know.

It's the immigrants and the zombies, the dead and the undead, constantly sloughing off bits of flesh everywhere they go. The larger gobbets are easy to spot, and avoid. It's the little bitty chunks that are deadly. Who touched that door before you opened it?

Waiting. It's just that since he looks a bit brown he gets the ten-hour line.

"Strange jungle rot?" What the fuck, are you having 'Nam flashbacks you didn't earn, just like the president?

I take it then, that you have zero experience with any flesh eating diseases, or even disfiguring diseases, that might be brought back from South America, Africa, Asia, or some island in the tropics. Never seen it for yourself, so it doesn't exist, right?

You would be *amazed* what I've run across in the course of jobs that ostensibly involve "shuttling medicine from A to B after putting it in vial C."

It's more your choice of words that I wonder about. This isn't a tropical nation even if the Deep South feels like it sometime. So what sort of "jungle rot" are we speaking of here, and how would one logically expect to be exposed to it...?
