For reasons, I ended up watching CBSN on election night. For much of the night, I was impressed with CBSN. Their liberal bias was there, easily seen, but they contained themselves pretty well.

All the chatter seemed factual, and on target. The numbers seemed reasonable, even accurate.

Then - Trump made an appearance on television. FFS, it was, quite bluntly, childish whining. "We've won this election, and the evil Dems are withholding my coronation!"

At that point, the pundits fell back to repeating dem talking points, yada yada yada.

I've said it many times - if Trump could just STFU sometimes, the world would be a better place.

As for the numbers? Georgia is getting close, but Fulton county has problems and is unable to finish counting tonight. North Carolina is really close to an R victory, but they still have a lot of mail-in ballots that aren't counted. Penna boils down to Philly, and those aren't going to be counted tonight.

Michigan and Wisconsin aren't even close to being safely called yet. There are roughly 5 million uncounted votes remaining among those five states. That is more than enough to swing an election!

Arizona could possibly go R yet, but it seems highly unlikely.

Boys and girls, I do believe Trump is going to win. Once again, it's going to be a close thing, and Biden may or may not actually win the popular vote. But, I think Trump will get the Electoral College again.

I'll have more later, I just wanted to get my initial impression of Trumps whining out there before I forget how pissed off I am.

All night long, the various pages I have open have shown a projected Electoral College tally, based on the states that have been called. The pages don't agree with each other, but overall, they started out weighted in Biden's favor.

Late in the night, after midnight, those weighted numbers started shifting in Trump's favor. I saw 213 for Trump, and 192 for Biden prior to Trump throwing his little tantrum. Immediately after the tantrum, all those numbers shifted in Biden's favor.

I guess the various networks just decided to collectively jerk Trump's chain to get even for the tantrum.

For accountability purposes, I also posted this comment [soylentnews.org].

The network that was most aggressive in calling races was Fox, who called states like Arizona while most other outlets chose not to do so. If anyone was favoring Biden in calling races, it was Fox. Chris Cuomo sharply criticized Fox, though not by name, for doing so. He said that CNN was being particularly cautious about calling races in this election because of the unique challenges with casting and counting votes.

Jake Tapper was very critical of Trump's speech, but he didn't push back about anything Rick Santorum said (see other comments), not even the analysis that was favorable to Trump.

I know CNN gets a lot of criticism and they deserve it at times. But from what I can tell, they were very fair to Trump. I don't think the networks are trolling Trump. At least CNN didn't do so at all.

All the swing states with democrat leadership decided to halt the count at the same time. The reasonable presumption is that they are doing just as Florida's Broward county did in 2018 and prior: they have people busy filling out ballots for everybody who didn't show up. That'll run all through the night to ensure a Biden victory.

The reasonable presumption, as Rick Santorum said last night on CNN, is that counting was halted because people need to sleep. The people counting the votes need to be alert so they don't make mistakes. Given that he's 1) a conservative Republican with no political reason to be biased against Trump and 2) likely very familiar with vote counting procedures in his home state of Pennsylvania, he seems far more trustworthy in this regard than you do.

That said, do you have any real evidence to support your conspiracy theory, either for the 2018 election or during this election cycle? Broward County has been widely criticized for their vote counting [tampabay.com] but those criticisms don't seem to back up your allegations.

I wanted to post about this last night but SoylentNews censored my message with the lameness filter. Hopefully this post gets through.

Rick Santorum was on CNN after Trump's speech. Santorum is a conservative Republican. He usually defends Trump. He said he understands Trump's frustration about votes being counted slowly and understands why it would be annoying that states can't be called. He said it was reasonable for both candidates to speak and express hope and confidence that they will prevail. But he said that Trump was out of line for calling for the counting of votes to stop in places like Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, and Michigan. He also called out the hypocrisy of wanting vote counting to continue in Arizona because it probably benefits him while wanting counting to stop elsewhere. He also said very clearly that nothing nefarious is going on in places like Pennsylvania, nothing that there are cameras monitoring places where votes are counted in Philadelphia. He said that vote counting was halted for the night because poll workers needed to get some sleep so they are alert and don't make mistakes while counting the votes. Again, this is Rick Santorum saying Trump was out of line and strongly objecting to his speech.

Santorum is right. Count all of the votes in all of the states. And he was very critical of Trump's speech for suggesting that the election results won't be legitimate in those states, that votes shouldn't be counted, and the hypocrisy of wanting counting to continue in Arizona.

Trump's speech last night was disgraceful. Count all of the votes. If Trump wins once the votes are counted, we should all accept the results of the election. That means there shouldn't be any rioting or looting. If votes that were cast legally according to the law in those states don't get counted, that is the one thing that would call into question the legitimacy of the election. Trump is way out of line.

Thankfully it looks like my message won't be censored by the lameness filter this time. I'm really disappointed in SoylentNews that my post last night saying essentially the same thing with a similar tone was blocked from Azuma Hazuki's journal. I sent an email last night and they need to fix the filter because it shouldn't be censoring political speech.

And, it won't get them to vote differently even if you convinced them, most of these people are heavily religious, and so will support whatever candidate will attempt to force their world view and concept of what's haram on the rest of the populace.

Well, I've not voted for Trump. As it turns out, my vote didn't have any affect on Trump's campaign in 2016, or in 2020. Don't blame ME.

How about pointing at the DNC? I've said repeatedly, that if Bernie had been nominated, I might have voted for him. I've stated clearly that if Tulsi were nominated, I would have voted for her. If the DNC truly wanted Trump out, they would have offered an attractive candidate for whom moderates and independents could vote. Instead - we have what we have.

You might also point fingers at Americans in general, who insist on voting within the "two party system". I consistently vote third party. OK, you can mock me if you like, because this year's vote for West amounts to a joke vote. Still, my middle finger remains up for the Ds and the Rs to see.

If YOU voted for Biden, then you are part of the problem that you seem to be complaining about.

Michigan and Wisconsin seem pretty well in hand for Biden at this point.

And Arizona seems likely to go Biden as well.

The way the numbers are playing out, Biden can *still* win the electoral college if he takes Arizona (likely) and Nevada (also not a bad bet) even if he loses in PA.

If you sort out the numbers as they've currently been called :
    Biden: 253 Electoral College votes
    Trump: 214 Electoral College votes

If Trump wins Pennsylvania (20), North Carolina (15), Georgia (15) and Alaska (3), that's 53 more EC votes for a total of 267.

If Biden wins Arizona (11) and Nevada (6), that's 17 more EC votes for a total of 270.

Since Arizona is looking pretty good for Biden, Trump will need to win PA, NC, GA and AK and then win NV as well. Whereas Biden just needs one of NV, PA, NC or GA.

As for the popular vote (not that it matters where it counts) Biden is ahead by more than 3,000,000 votes.
