Honestly, it's just pointing out the obvious at this point.
But... We all know damn well that if Trump was in this electoral situation right now the race would've been called already.
I wanted to celebrate today!
Getting drunk on a Saturday isn't a celebration. That's just a Saturday....

A naive reading of the congressional statute specifying election day might lead a simpleton to conclude that the only "legal" votes are the ones cast/received on that day. Then all this "early voting", and absentee votes received at later dates might be characterized as somehow "illegal". This might explain what the orange one is ranting about.
I'm not sure this is a winning strategy, but it is surely something that needs to be fully clarified.

The only legal votes are the electoral college. The states elect the president, not the people. If a state wants to use a hotdog eating contest or flip a coin to decide who gets the votes thats up to them.
Eg, Colorado just decided that their votes go to the winner of the national popular vote. Thus rendering their own state irrelevant for campaigning and pork purposes but that is totally legal.

When I said "election day" I was referring to the day whereupon presidential electors are elected. I got no beef with electoral college.

...and by statute, that hot-dog eating contest must occur on the Tuesday following the first Monday in November - not sooner nor later.
