because "Doing your own research" is far easier nowadays than building the habit of thinking critically.
Add COVID-anxiety, a chaotic narcissistic Orange clown and compound with the lack of survival problems to solve for the everyday life in a westernized society and (where appropriate) a good dose of American exceptionalism.

    Reality is the one thing not affected by stupidity. I think Ricky Gervais said it best: If we burn all the books today, in 1000 years they can rewrite the science books more or less the same; religious books would all be different.
    Maybe I'm an asshole, but if a "person" can't be bothered to figure out what's real, I can't be bothered about their well-being. I'll just pay some dude with a gun to protect/teach me how to use the gun if it comes to that.
