I've had a couple of Raspberry Pi 2B's work as a web server and security cameras. The web server was running MediaWiki and did a pretty good job. The security camera was also decent enough to help us catch a neighborhood vandal spray painting things at our apartment. Camera quality has gone up since then, but it was "good enough."
However, I would NOT use one as a router or other device, such as a NAS. The bandwidth just doesn't cut it.
