Original Jailbreak App Store Cydia Sues Apple for its Monopoly:

The iPhone's original—and unofficial—app store has sued Apple, accusing the company of having a monopoly on the distribution of apps.

Cydia, an app store created and launched in 2007 by Jay "Saurik" Freeman, one of the original jailbreakers filed the lawsuit against Apple on Thursday.

"Were it not for Apple's anti competitive acquisition and maintenance of an illegal monopoly over iOS app distribution, users today would actually be able to choose how and where to locate and obtain iOS apps, and developers would be able to use the iOS app distributor of their choice," the lawsuit reads.

The lawsuit was first reported by The Washington Post.

The third-party apps are not Apple's product. I don't know the legal situation, but Apple should not have the right to force a certain way of distribution on other people's apps.

That would be true if there no alternative to Apple. As it is, they have the right to pick and choose who sells their product and how it is sold. Here again we pick the wrong target, like the bullshit about facebook's "monopoly". The only real monopolies are in service provision, AT&T, Verizon, etc, and banking/payment systems with Visa and Mastercard, etc. That is the very closed market that shouldn't be allowed. These are the real monopolies we should attack, not trinkets and entertainment

Trinkets? 2.17T(APL) market cap vs 217B(T).

Apples influence has far reaching influence on electronics, schools, software development, movies, browser standards, music, silicon foundaries, navigation, the telecoms themselves, and more...

They only have the influence given to them. Their power comes from their fans' attachment to the product. They still retail in trinkets to the general public. They provide nothing we can't live without. I consider all this a bullshit distraction from the real monopolies in communications, energy, banking, etc

You realise it's also possible to live without commtech, energy, banking, etc, right?

Sorry, Apple is not a "problem". Not a real one by any means.
