Seems that The Mighty Buzzard is tired of winning. Filters and mod-bans, IRC kicks, anyone who proves that TMB is a loser in debate sooner or later finds themselves blocked from SoylentNews. And seems it is just this one dev who is asserting these admin powers, and lobbying for more draconian rules.

I have to agree with the AC (who's probably Aristatchus based on the diction but whatever...). Uzzard does not truly make arguments. There is no sense in using reason with someone who's forsworn its use, any more than there is giving IV fluids to a three-week-old corpse.
The ideal outcome would be to isolate and contain him. This doesn't necessarily mean cut him off from speaking or being heard, but something that's actually both more subtle and much, much crueler: allow him to destroy his own credibility. The problem is, here on the forum that's doable (and I'd argue has already been done; plenty of ACs will now tell him to his beak he's full of shit, which didn't happen as recently as a year ago) but the IRC rooms are a more rarefied audience and basically his home turf.
This is someone who has a four year old's idea of concepts like "freedom" and in particular "free speech," and isn't arguing in good faith. There's no reasoning with someone like that. He's more or less admitted the entire purpose of his life is lulz and trolling, and considering his ADHD, possible autism, and almost definite ASPD, there's really not much else he *can* do.

And calling him names does make sense? If positive, what is the sense of it? Getting kickbanned from IRC?
Besides, there's at least an inconsistency between setting him on /ignore but still hooking into opportunities to jab him blindly. Mind if you resolve the isue in your mind? Like, you want to ignore him (then you let aside the blind jabs too) or you want to take abs at him (then where's he sense of filter his... whatever... out and stay blind). Unless you actually want to take blind jabs at him, in which case fall back on the "where's the sense of it?".
Disagree. I don't see the sense of doing so - he's just one of many, nothing special. Even if there would be a rational reason to try it (there isn't), why I would waste my time with attempts to destroy something he doesn't value?
He is "at peace" with him (even when it involves a great deal of cognitive dissonance) and he doesn't care if you (or anyone else for the matter) are at peace with him. For him, it is enough that he "knows the truth", whether you or others agree with him is irrelevant.

Perhaps you've never been in a situation where you ignore someone but the drama coming from all the people responding to the ignored person's nonsense still makes you aware of what they are doing. Then it is not a blind jab.
The simple fact is that SN spouts adherence to FREE SPEECH and allows users like Ethanol-Fueled to continue their shitposting racism while banning Azuma for personal attacks. The SN leadership openly mocks Codes of Conduct, yet has one of their own selectively enforced. Perhaps it is time they dropped they faux-libertarian bullshit and admitted that human communities require rules that match the community values. If buzzard doesn't want to be personally attacked then it is time for SN to suck it up and start applying rules of civility. If they want to continue allowing hate filled rants then they don't get to cry if someone targets them for some abuse.
It is all about consistency.

We all know the "butbutbutbut muh freeeeeeeze peeeeeach!" types are complete hypocrites. The emphasis is always on the "my" with the "free speech" part both 1) incredibly poorly understood, like, "on the level of a 4 year old" and 2) used only as a convenient cover. His kind don't give one single solitary lonely little damn about freedom of speech itself, nor the principles it's based on; they just think being called on the carpet for their antisocial behavior is some sort of injustice.
