Our schools routinely tested for IQ, 3rd grade, 5th grade, and 8th grade. I kinda figure that boomers have some basis on which to claim an IQ, however high or low. They may be lying, or they may not be lying, but they probably know where they ranked on at least a couple IQ tests.
Or, maybe my school system was unique in testing so frequently.

The shrinks were what happens when you're a kid that goes to public schools with an IQ over twice as far from average as average is from retarded. School is hard as fuck to tolerate when you get bored, learn the materials you're supposed to be covering over the next month in an evening, and have nothing to do in class but sit and stare until everyone catches up.
When I was in grade school, yes. My mother was not supposed to tell me the results (for whatever reason the authorities thought valid at the time) but she did tell me it was 140. When I took the mensa tests (three of them) the numbers varied widely. No longer remember the exact numbers, but one of them was near 140 and another was over 160. Don't know how accurate any of these numbers are (or what they nmeasure) but the wide variation suggests they aren't very precise.
