So I volunteered a couple years ago. I chose a bug out of the backlog and grabbed the codebase and thought "I'll fix this bug and commit it back and help out in my own little way".
Any you know what? This perl-ish whateveritis codebase is hard. I even downloaded that one docker image that was apparently a ready-to-go deployment and I couldn't even get it running.
And I felt stupid. I mean, I think of myself as a perl guru. I did perl professionally for over 10 years, I know the language really well, I've contributed to some CPAN libs, but I just could not wrap my mind around the codebase.
