I work for Microsoft. If you let me volunteer then a bunch of people will get triggered. I can already hear the accusations of Embrace/Extend/Extinguish.

Not _everyone_ feels that way about Microsoft nor their employees. In fact, that you're willing to admit to your crimes is a powerful first step toward healing. :) But seriously, there are many things I've hated about MS over the years, and many things to like and thank them for. I'll always be suspicious, but they seem to be becoming a much friendlier, more like friends of the community kind of company.

    Yes, they will get triggered.

Your employer is evil. Windows 10 and Skype are pure fucking shit. I find the version churn of Dot Net (Framework? Core? Back together in 5?) hilarious, all seemingly to tie Mono to specific implementations of libc and libssl, tied to systemd. All this so you can accuse RMS of transphobia and accuse your colleagues of "misogyny" when they refuse your sexual advances.

I forgot to also bitch about Dot Net Core being basically closed-source in a trusting trust manner, since there's no way to bootstrap it from C.

The giant piles of money really do help ease my conscience. <3

Joking aside, the story I tell myself is that Microsoft is a very different company than it used to be. I don't think I could have worked for Mr. Balmer, but Mr. Nadella is very different man. (How different? e.g. My primary workstation ran Linux and was supported for a data center migration project when I needed it.) The other part of it is that I feel I have more impact driving change inside the company vs. shouting at the gates.

I don't trust Nadella even as far as my WFH atrophied muscle can throw a stick (but that's irrelevant and inconsequential anyway).
But I like how the dotnet is progressing since it started as OSS - a lot better than Java and certainly well ahead of many other proglangs, PERL and Python included.

Oh, wow. How about a port of #rehash in dotnet 6.0? (greene... errr, sorry... grin)
