First to submit is not always the best submission when there are dupes. What if the first submission is a one liner and a link, whereas a later one provides several linked sources and more explanatory text, for instance?
As long as the editors actually edit, then the ideal might be to cherry pick from the duplicate submissions to provide the best combined story and set of links, but that's obviously more labour intensive. A fair compromise might be to pick the best overall submission and apply some minor edits, including recognition of others who submitted the story earlier.
