[2021-07-20 | 11:22:29 UTC] You have a message from Bytram: I've said it before, and I believe I even mentioned it in a story, that I would not object posts like this being modded as spam: https://soylentnews.org/comments.pl?noupdate=1&sid=43972&page=1&cid=1158137#commentwrap

So it's official. Anyone spamming contentless bullshit like that? Spam-mod them out of existence. No, you special snowflakes, that's not "censorship" any more than telling someone to clean up after their dog is a violation of their freedom of association.

I'll Spam mod anything that's contentless slur-streaked drivel. Make an actual interesting, germane, and relevant point and you may get away with Flamebait, but if it's just the usual bullshit, it's spam. If you don't like it, leave. I'm doing nothing the admins are not either actively encouraging (Bytram) or blatantly signalling they'll look the other way on (FatPhil).

... you heard it here first, folks. Interesting, germane, relevant stuff - flamebait.

I wonder whether this is what Buzzard was talking about. Cancel culture coming to soylent? I could see that doing it.

Coming to Soylent? This place has been a safe-space for Judeo-Bolshevik bullshit for at least a year or two straight before Buzz "left," and it will remain that way for the forseeable future. Sounds like he was shooed out by pushy Jews doing what Jews typically Jew...uh, I mean, do.

Storywise it's pretty much a 3-topic rotation of Russia scaremongering, or some sort of bullshit environmentalist concern over regular yearly climate variations (including "new" methods of environmentally-friendly transportation), or Marty's space launch blogs; and seasoned with a little of Takyon's tech plugging to taste.

Your editing elision shows your intent:

... you heard it here first, folks. Interesting, germane, relevant stuff marred with the pointed addition of racist tripe - flamebait.

Reading comprehension? Deliberate fail. I am reminded of an old insight, Jean-Paul Sartre on anti-Semites:

They are amusing themselves, for it is their adversary who is obliged to use words responsibly, since he believes in words. ... They delight in acting in bad faith, since they seek not to persuade by sound argument but to intimidate and disconcert.

It doesn't matter what the marring is. Interesting, germane, and relevant - nonetheless flamebait. It's a direct statement concerning moderation standards that have no bearing on the quality of presentation, but on the content.

It could have applied as well to:

"... marred with the pointed addition of filthy, dirty foot fetishism"

and it would still have been interesting, germane, relevant foot fetishism being marked as flamebait.

Is it nice on your planet?
                Can I join you?

I think it is fair to say divisiveness (way beyond 'wedge politics') is now driving most major country's politics. No one can be a 'moderate' and there is very little 'centrist' left in any voting blocks. Countries with compulsory voting tend to get the lazy middle out, which counters some of the extremism, but there is a strong driver to the far left and far right - almost as if they are the motivated people.. (this also applies to any 'cause' - the highly motivated are usually more... extreme.)

How do we find middle ground when both extremes don't think the 'other side' deserves to even live?
