      Brits would point out that tire and tyre (and Tyre) are heterographs, not homonyms.

      1) tire: to become tired, wearied.
      2) tyre: the (optional) removable/replaceable outer surface of a wheel that rolls upon a the substrate
      3) Tyre: a city in Lebanon

    I have not seen that page, which I do find interesting. I picked up the terminology from that font of all goodest informations: Wikipedia.

        Yes, that would be nice. If the pole started out as a submission. However, I suspect some past poles were simply created in the mind of an author who then added the pole to the front page when it was time for a change.

        This pole is one of several in a submission which is still in the Subs Queue.

          As pointed out elsewhere, "Poles" is an ethnic slur, and I am personally insulated by its deployment hear.
