Two lawyers who filed suit challenging election results ordered to pay nearly $187K

A federal judge on Monday ordered two Colorado lawyers who filed lawsuits challenging the results of the 2020 presidential election to pay nearly $187,000.

[....] “As officers of the Court, these attorneys have a higher duty and calling that requires meaningful investigation before prematurely repeating in court pleadings unverified and uninvestigated defamatory rumors that strike at the heart of our democratic system and were used by others to foment a violent insurrection that threatened our system of government,” Neureiter wrote in a Monday order.

[....] Fielder and Walker filed a class-action suit in December of 2020 on behalf of American voters alleging voting machine vendor Dominion Voting Systems, government officials in four states, Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg and his wife Priscilla Chan hatched a plan to steal the election from former President Trump.

Neureiter dismissed the case in April and in August ruled that both attorneys had violated their ethical obligations. He also referenced the suit at the time as “the stuff of which violent insurrections are made.”

The Monday order required the lawyers to pay more than $11,000 to cover the legal fees of the states of Michigan and Pennsylvania as well as $50,000 to Facebook and $62,930 each to Dominion and the Center for Tech and Civic Life.

"The total amount the two Plaintiffs’ counsel will have to jointly pay, adding in the stipulated awards to the States, will be approximately $186,922, which I find to be an adequate sanction award to send the appropriate message and deter such misconduct in the future, without being unnecessarily punitive," Neureiter wrote in the order.

Trump lost.

Get over it.

If you had any evidence he won, we would all have seen it by now.

Of course Mike Lindell still says SCOTUS is going to overturn the 2020 election once he presents his evidence. We're still waiting.

UPDATE: Mike Lindell has finally filed something with the SCOTUS. See my comment below.

Seven From Anti-Vax Doctors’ COVID Conference Fall Sick Within Days [thedailybeast.com]

That includes Bruce Boros, who claimed ivermectin was keeping him healthy and said he wanted to smack his own father for getting the vaccine.

To hear the fringe doctors who gathered at an equine facility for the Florida COVID Summit earlier this month, ivermectin is as effective against the virus in humans as it is against worms in horses.

“I have been on ivermectin for 16 months, my wife and I,” Dr. Bruce Boros declared at the end of the meeting at the World Equestrian Center in Ocala. “I have never felt healthier in my life.”

Two days later, the 71-year-old cardiologist fell ill with COVID-19, according to the organizer of the one-day gathering and two other people with direct knowledge.

The organizer, Dr. John Littell, further reported to The Daily Beast that six others among the 800 to 900 participants had also tested positive or developed COVID symptoms “within days of the conference.”

“People are considering if it was a superspreader event,” Littell said.

[....] Littell added, “Everybody so far has responded to treatment with ivermectin… Bruce is doing well.”

Boros remained seriously ill at his Key West home, according to people who know him but who asked not to be identified. Boros himself did not respond to phone messages and emails.

[....] “Fauci is a fraud—big pharma is playing us for suckers. Dr. Boros.”

So called doctors who obviously don't know what they are doing. Are more about politics than medicine and science.

    Here is an update:

Mike Lindell Blames a Vast GOP Conspiracy for His Supreme Court Failure [thedailybeast.com]

The pillow boss has long promised he’d file his unhinged ravings to the high court by Tuesday, but that hasn’t happened. Of course, a conspiracy must be to blame, Lindell says.

MyPillow chief and 2020 dead-ender Mike Lindell has long promised that he would file an election-fraud complaint with the Supreme Court on Tuesday morning. But now he claims to have missed that goal because he was silenced by Republican National Committee Chairperson Ronna McDaniel.

It was a last-minute pressure campaign orchestrated by the RNC and McDaniel that prevented his case from moving forward and “saving the country,” Lindell now alleges.

[....] Lindell blasted McDaniel, alleging she orchestrated a vast Republican conspiracy against him when she finally acknowledged late last week that President Joe Biden won the 2020 election.

“How dare the RNC try and stop this case from getting to the Supreme Court. Shame on you, RNC! You are worse than Fox [News] now!” [ . . . ]

It goes on and on, but I think you get the pitcher.

You mean my family wasted their money on "Trump 2021" merchandise? I totally could not have predicted that outcome!</sarcasm>

But this does explain why their chatter changed from winning to filing to writing the lawsuit by Thanksgiving.

I actually mention Mike Lindell in the journal entry. And I relate him to the challenges to the election results. And only an idiot would begin or end a sentence with the word And.

And my oh my is it funny.

Mike Lindell Finally Reveals His Supreme Court Complaint, And Critics Have Notes [huffpost.com]

MyPillow CEO Mike Lindell on Tuesday released a copy of his long-promised Supreme Court complaint to overturn the 2020 presidential election, though it had not actually been filed and it listed the plaintiff as “[insert your state].”

“We will have this before the Supreme Court before Thanksgiving,” he promised in September. “That’s my promise to the people of this country.”

On Tuesday evening, he published a copy [michaeljlindell.com] of the complaint on his website, though it appeared to be missing some essential components and he had apparently failed to get any state attorneys general to sign on to it.

[....] Legal experts and critics offered bemused commentary on the document:

All the more so because #SCOTUS couldn’t hear this nonsense even if it wanted to (which, to be clear, it doesn’t) unless the as-yet-unnamed plaintiff is one of the 50 states. https://t.co/V8YTNkqjuR [t.co]

            Anyway, I read Lindell's complaint. tl;dr:

            * This is not an actual lawsuit
            * The court already said it wouldn't hear this stuff
            * It's a huge grab-bag of conspiracies, most of which have been known to be false for an entire year now
            * An actual lawyer wrote this

            Caveat emptor.
