You know who you are...

say no more.. say no more, and the groupies following!

Eh, whatever, short answer, no...

The top U.S. commander for the Middle East said Thursday that the United States will keep the current 2,500 troops in Iraq for the foreseeable future... They actually want all U.S. forces to leave, and all U.S. forces are not going to leave... that may provoke a response as we get later into the end of the month.

So there.. We're Americans dammit!

In other news:

This may or may not be a good thing, but it's still chum for the republicans

The New York City Council on Thursday approved legislation that would expand voting rights to hundreds of thousands of legal noncitizens, allowing a once-disenfranchised segment of Big Apple taxpayers a chance to participate in the local democratic process.

The measure was easily approved by the City Council with the support of a number of advocacy groups, who say that New York's legal permanent residents have the right to weigh in on who leads the city and how their tax dollars are spent.

Why the fuck would I expect to vote in a pizza party, let alone a government organ of the USA if I moved to NYC? I mean, the city government, as I understand it, is an actual part of the federalised US government, right?

Americans, tell me if I'm wrong here, but is the city government an official government body? I could have sworn it was.

This just sounds insane. Tax money or no tax money. If I move somewhere (not that NYC was on my personal list anyway) I expect to either have to get citizenship, or do without franchise. It's a privilege of citizenship, isn't it?

That's what I meant. Not the federal government, but the federalised system in which power is delegated. So the city is its own thing, but an actual piece of government.

Mockingbird nails it. No city or county or state or territorial government in the US is part of the federal government. The City of New York's government is an official part of New York City's government, nothing more, and nothing less. The federal government is only able to interfere in NYC's government decisions when those decisions are clearly illegal, or unconstitutional. Witness the current case before the Supreme Court in which NYC and NY State deny their citizens their constitutional rights.

I've done more in one season to wage the war on Christmas since Diocletian and the rest of you should man up and get to waging the war as well.

The endless encroachment of Christmas has gone too far with the existence of Black Friday being particularly threatening. This year we had Festival of Birds, five days of different birds Thanksgiving week honoring the heritages that built this great land. Christmas must be stopped and Thanksgiving is the bulwark against further encroachment.
