I have an Aeropress and the thing that sold me on it was that it makes a single cup of coffee pretty simply and not much hassle (cleans easily) directly into the drinking vessel. I've seen some web sites that are absolutely ridiculous in their statements. Some "competition" they have for making the best cup with it, where they argue about whether the water should be 98.3 or 98.5 degrees and stuff like that. But the concept and the implementation of that thing are pretty well done.
I've been planning on doing the home roasting myself, but as a hobby project. I want to do one of those Arduino-controlled roasters using a hot air popcorn popper. I've gone as far as picking up a popcorn popper, but that's sort of as far as I've gotten. I really should buy some green coffee so that I have a forcing function to get on with the project. I really do love coffee as well as software/hardware projects, so I figured this would be a lot of fun. I take my coffee either black or with some cream. Never could stand any sweetener in it, nor do I like cold coffee, so if I am given some cold brew, I'd probably sneak off and pop it in the microwave. Interestingly, caffeine doesn't seem to affect me as much as others. I can drink a cup or two of coffee before bedtime and have no problem sleeping. I know some people who won't drink coffee after 4pm because it will keep them up half the night.

Brings to mind some of the "labor saving" thingamabobs found in the kitchen. Some of them are pretty cool, until you try to clean them to put them away. Little whirlygig thing chops onions, peppers, whatever, very nicely, but trying to get that last particle of food from the bottom is a hopeless task. Underwriter's lab should rate products on "cleans easily".
I am not a doctor, but have had my ADD diagnosed by several over the years.
I can ingest caffeine in doses that practically make my body shake and still have no trouble falling asleep. It used to annoy my father that as my mother and I were mid-Scrabble at 11 PM, she would put on a pot of coffee (not much tea in their home, and neither of us care much for "soft drinks"), and still go right to sleep after the game.
For us, caffeine sharpens focus, but has no apparent side effects.
