Yeah, I'm rather in your camp now. We got a soda stream and make our own natural sodas. Ginger ale is a favorite, but sumac soda takes top marks. Sumac [duckduckgo.com] is that purple spike that grows on trees in the American midwest and northeast and ripens in August. You snap the spikes off the tree, rinse it, and put it in a big jar of water to brew up like sun tea. Put enough spikes in and brew long enough until the water is a dark red. Then pour off through a filter and sweeten it to taste. It's high in vitamin C and tastes like raspberry lemonade. If you cool it and run it through the soda stream to carbonate it, it's better than any soft drink you can buy on the market.
