I am unsure which one this is.

Background:

Turkey is a NATO member.

Turkey buys Russian made air defense system(s).

Turkey is excluded from the F-35 program because of this.

Putin drags Russia into world war III.

US tells Turkey that if it sends its Russian made air defense systems to Ukraine, it can be allowed back in to the F-35 program.

This means that Russian planes invading Ukraine air space would be shot down with Russian made air defense systems.

I am too stupid to distinguish whether this is Poetic Justice or Ironic Justice.

Please help me Obi Wan Kenobi. Your[1] my only hope.

While the rest of NATO dithers over human rights issues, Turkey goes about it's genocidal way, and little is said by anyone.

I see posts from Runaway talking [soylentnews.org] about genocide of the Kurds well predating the Ukrainian invasion. The link is from mid 2019:

Turkey shouldn't be getting any arms from us. Web searches for "Turkey genocide" should find you a long, long list of genocides. The Armenians weren't the Turk's first rodeo. Today, the Turks keep the Kurds in their sites, almost like they are preparing for the next genocide. Murders and disappearances are pretty routing, it just hasn't reached the level of official genocide.

It sounds to me like Runaway has been pretty consistent on this point.

Might it help you to put things into context, if I explain that I've actually met Kurds? You know, like, I've actually been to that region of the world, and talked to some of the people who live there? A years long internet relationship with a couple of them, that ended soon after the invasion of Iraq? And, to this day, I still don't know if they or their families are still alive.

I don't know any native Ukrainians. (American-Ukrainians, lots of them, no native Ukrainians.) I did know native Kurds.

              best for the job

ICFI/SEP/IWA-RFC: Fascistic demagogy from Republicans at hearings for Ketanji Brown Jackson [wsws.org]

A graduate of Harvard College and Harvard Law School, a former Supreme Court clerk for Justice Breyer, whom she is set to replace, and a federal judge for almost a decade with almost 600 written opinions, Jackson’s qualifications, from the standpoint of the bourgeois legal system, match or exceed those of all the sitting justices.

It's a shame that this well-qualified candidate is subject to both the Democratic Party and your intersectional identity politics.

...The 11 Republicans have used the hearings to complain about Democratic mistreatment of prior Republican nominees, to posture about various hot-button right-wing social issues such as gun control, transgender athletes, critical race theory [wsws.org] in the schools and abortion.

I suppose gun control is at least Constitutionally relevant. The only thing that stops a fascist militia is a workers militia using the 2A for its intended purpose.

In chambers, out of chambers, in her home, in their homes, in youth detention centers, in jailhouses - just like them up to tell their 'me-too' stories. And don't give me any bullshit that she doesn't have the necessary experience. On that front, she is more experienced entering the Supreme Court than some of the other currently seated Supreme Court Justices had when they started on the court. And, as I've already noted below, objecting that she hasn't put a label on which "school of thought" guides her decisions is really rather weak sauce. That objection lands as a bit of a dud. I really don't care whether a female black is on the Supreme Court. What I care about, is that she will uphold the law as she is supposed to do. Make up your mind! Does it have "zero bearing" or does it mean that she is not the best choice? If you are going to make these claims then you have to choose one or the other. And, if her skin color or gender means that she is not the best choice then tell us why.

We already know that she is lenient toward sex offenders.

No, we don't know this. And you would know the truth, if you had bothered to watch her confirmation hearings. Her child porn sentences fall into line with the way many (most?) other judges have gone when handing down sentences.

Who else is she going to be lenient with? Armed robbers? We already see that with liberal prosecutors. Gang bangers? Yes, we are seeing that with liberal prosecutors. White collar crime? Drug traffikers? Sex traffikers? Terrorists? Mass/serial murderers? Who cares, right?

OK, now you are back into paranoid rant mode again. My prescription: stop watching Fox "News", OANN, Newsmax, et al.

                          She's black, she's female, she's liberal.

Well, she's certainly black and female, but is she really all that liberal in her practice as a judge? I mean, I'm sure she is probably quite a bit more liberal than I am in her personal views. But, then, I tend to be rather conservative in my personal views. But she has made it clear in her confirmation hearings (and her rulings have typically borne this out) that when it comes to rendering a verdict she is rather mindful of "staying to her lane"---her words, not mine---and not legislating from the bench.

                Philosophy

Unlike Justices Amy Coney Barrett, Brett Kavanaugh or Neil Gorsuch, who all clearly identified their judicial philosophy of originalism – that the words of the law mean what was meant at the time of their writing – Judge Jackson refused to apply a label to her judicial line of thought.

Jackson refuses to tell us what school of thought guides her decisions. Or, even if there is a school of thought. She may decide cases on a whim - she likes the lawyer in the blue suit, can't stand the lawyer in the brown suit. Nothing wrong with that. Police will readily admit that on any given day, they might pull over every green car and silver car that comes along, ignoring all the black, white, purple, and red cars. Or, they might pull over every car with a Latino driving, or only choose cars with pretty women driving. Whims don't profile - much.

Is that really the best you have? Seriously? That she refuses to slap a label on her "school of thought"? Newsflash: you can get a much more substantial idea of what guides her decision-making process by looking at her...wait for it!... over ten years of legal opinions which she has written on cases she has decided. If this is the best the opposition can do, then I see little to no reason why Judge Jackson should not be confirmed as a Supreme Court Justice. Congratulations, Judge Jackson!

This means that Russian planes invading Ukraine air space would be shot down with Russian made air defense systems.

It gets [cnn.com] more poetic and ironic than that.

Golodov plays a key role in repurposing military equipment abandoned by the Russian army -- or captured from it.

He leads a team working at a military junkyard at an undisclosed location in Kyiv, repairing and repainting Russian military equipment for use by Ukrainian forces.

"Everything that we take away from the Russian army, we transfer to the armed forces of Ukraine," he says.

The team works on different types of military vehicles at a junkyard in Kyiv, fixing broken parts, removing communications systems, and painting over any Russian military symbols, the report said.

"It looks like old weaponry, but actually if you use it correctly it will serve us for a long time," Golodov said, adding, "Everything that we take away from the Russian army, we transfer to the armed forces of Ukraine."

While the story doesn't mention it, there's cases of SAM systems being captured by the Ukrainians. If they can get that to work, then they may well have already shot down Russian airplanes with Russia's own equipment brought in during the invasion.

Ukraine has always used Russian weapons, but it goes deeper than that. Many Russian weapons are made in Crimea. Before 2014 those were Ukrainian weapons. That was the main reason Putin invaded back then.

Why would someone think Turkey does?

Turkey has leaned itself way out to obtain the Russian air defense system. Why would they go with the American solution now (if it were even offered to them).

And I bet in the unlikely event the system did get transferred to the Ukraine, Russia would send out an update deactivating it.
