Apparently, you were going for the outrage/hype/sensationalism routine. So, you didn't want an actual answer. Could have just said so to begin with. The answer is so far (not that you care), not this year (at least as far as I could find). Disturbingly, in 2017, "219 were killed" in Pakistan when a tanker exploded. Due to onlookers having gathered around it to collect the fuel. A number of the deadliest traffic accidents included a fuel tanker. Serious accidents involving various types of Bus were also fairly common in the list.

While I understand your point, I do have two examples for you. One is the 2017 Westminster terrorist attack [wikipedia.org] in London. The attacker used a car to run people over, killing five other people and injuring nearly 50. The body count was certainly comparable to a mass shooting. There was a similar number of deaths and injuries when an attacker ran people over with a car at the Waukesha, Wisconsin Christmas parade [wikipedia.org] last year. There weren't as many deaths as the Las Vegas shooting, but the number of people injured or killed in both attacks was worse than many mass shootings.
The Las Vegas shooting was so deadly because the shooter had an extended period of time to almost continuously fire bullets into a very large crowd. It's an anomaly, even for mass shootings. While I would prefer that we had zero mass shootings, I am thankful that the Las Vegas attack is an anomaly in terms of the death and injury toll. But motor vehicles can certainly inflict injuries and deaths that are comparable to many mass shootings.
None of this is intended to oppose gun control, but I wanted to provide an answer to your question.
I expect the legislature to make guns "well regulated." Just like automobiles.
Stable law abiding adults should be able to have a gun. Crazy unstable people should not. Especially criminals.
There are very many of us who have no criminal record, no arrests, no altercations. Who are able to de-escalate things instead of escalate them. There are plenty of people who should be able to have guns. Ordinary, dull, law abiding people without Rambo fantasies who have self control. Are not addicted nor abuse drugs nor alcohol.
The people who should not are already documented in the system.
Now maybe there are some people who should not have guns, but are unknown to the system. My proposal is imperfect. But I'm open to ideas for improvement.
-- Would a Dyson sphere [soylentnews.org] actually work?
Right, because it's not illegal for Criminals to own guns. Hint: It's a crime for a convicted felon to own a gun. We're talking about all felonies and "misdemeanors that include over 1 year of jail time". Prohibition sure worked out for the USA and the war on drugs sure is going strong. Maybe the ATF should change their name and only focus on illegal firearms / etc. kinds of things.

In the event that everyone was armed, there would be fewer massacres.
Not to put too fine a point on this but right now we have more guns than people in the USA. When is the "peace dividend" from this surplus of guns going to be finally realized?
I mean, you want fewer massacres, right?
Indeed, I---and at least a few others, apparently---would like fewer massacres. I just don't think adding more guns to the mix is the answer to our current problem.
We do not try to prevent crazy people with firearms from causing massacres.
Which is false in most places. For the really obvious rebuttal, why aren't all these shooters that you've complained about for the past few months still out on the streets shooting people? Maybe a few would have gotten the murder thing out of their system after a few massacres, but my take is a good portion probably would be still shooting people. What happened is that US society did indeed prevent said crazy people from causing massacres through a variety of obvious mechanisms like law enforcement response and jails that you continue to refuse to acknowledge.

Arriving hot on the heels of Latest Record Project, Vol. 1, the 2021 double album where Van Morrison unleashed all of his frustrations at being locked down during the COVID-19 pandemic, What's It Gonna Take? finds the singer doubling down on all of his gripes. The shift in intensity is apparent from the artwork depicting a couple being controlled by the hand of an unseen puppet master, an image that crystallizes Morrison's belief that the government and other shadowy forces are conspiring to take away free will from the common man. Van believes himself to be among these little folks: as he sings on one of the record's less politically charged songs, "I Ain't No Celebrity," he's merely a working musician. The fact that he was not able to work during the early months of the pandemic stoked Morrison's anger, and it shines brightly throughout What's It Gonna Take?, seeming even more vivid because his vitriolic lyrics are married to jaunty R&B rhythms or slow, soulful grooves delivered with precision and enshrined in a clean production. There's no ignoring Morrison's repeated references to Bill Gates, Mark Zuckerberg, fake news, and mind control or his huffy denials that he's a conspiracy theorist as they're pushed right to the forefront.
