Thanks for putting this up and letting ACs have their final remarks.
I was a lurker/AC from the very first week of SN's existence. I was AC on /. and saw no reason not to be an AC here, as well. Over the past few years that decision was verified as the right one, and the doxxing that was done by certain loons just made it that much wiser.
Though this place descended towards the end into a lefty loony echo chamber, I'm glad I was around for most of it, because it taught me a very valuable lesson: there is no longer any point in attempting to communicate with other human beings. This lesson started here at SN, but was only confirmed at any other significant place on the 'net. Yes, I'm aware that it might just be my problem, but I'm not the only one who has come to the same conclusion. No, I'm not writing this to communicate anything to anyone, but for my own amusement, which is all SN is worth anymore.
Some might be sad that SN is going, but I admit to indifference. This is not a community, it's a crab bucket. It won't be missed.

If you thought this stuff why would you still be here?
> there is no longer any point in attempting to communicate with other human beings.
The mod squad hitting every comment with a "-1 Troll" and a certain user posting the most inflammatory AC comments on both political sides of every discussion could give you that impression. Huge wiggly butts, like that subtle pain that just never quite subsides, AC is still here to nudge people towards thinking and evaluating information for themselves. They'd all miss that AC guy if they truly vanquished him. Imagine how dull their lives would be without the intellect, wisdom, humor and humility of AC.

Bullshit. There are just as many "righty loons" here. SN is one of the sites that better represented the range of people you'd find in the general public: lefty, righty, and in between.
Calling SN a "lefty loony echo chamber" implies that your preferred venues are of the RWNJ variety of echo chamber.

Yes, how dare other people have an opinion different than you! If only they were just like you...
Yes, I'm aware that it might just be my problem, but I'm not the only one who has come to the same conclusion.
There's no 'might' about it. And they have the same problem as you. Perhaps you should do something to change that.
Some might be sad that SN is going, but I admit to indifference. This is not a community, it's a crab bucket. It won't be missed.
If that's how you feel about it, well, it won't miss you either. Good day, sir.

It looks centrist to you because you're one of the leftist loons, you leftist loon.
Yes, how dare other people have an opinion different than you! If only they were just like you...
The problem is not that people have different opinions, it's that there's no willingness to show any respect to those who have a different opinion. Instead of respectful dialogue, everyone just insults each other -- as you just did right there. Trading insults is not communication. It can be fun and amusing, but it's not communication. You festering poltroon. (see? fun!)
...there's no willingness to show any respect to those who have a different opinion...
It can seem like that.
Some opinions do not deserve respect. Mostly the irrational ones.
I'm certainly capable of showing respect for opinions that are cogent, well argued, and rational, and preferably evidence-based, even if I happen to believe they are incorrect.

Many of us have painted ourselves into that corner, and I feel your dismay. It's a lonely place.
People will surprise you, though, and the trick is to learn to accept what they are capable of showing forth and embracing the good that they bring to the table - when they are able. "Life is bigger - bigger than you - and you are not me."

I talk to everyone I meet. Of course, that may be because I don't get out very much. I never got the opportunity to meet Tina:
Tina Turner died peacefully on May 24 in her home in Küsnach a town near Zurich, Switzerland, where she was awarded citizenship back in 2013. That same year, she relinquished her U.S. citizenship and from then on called Switzerland her home.
The 83-year-old “Queen of Rock-N-Roll” was suffering from intestinal cancer after being diagnosed with the disease in 2016, but has also been dealing with high blood pressure for more than forty years, the paper reports. Her high blood pressure issues damaged her kidneys and caused failure necessitating a transplant in 2017. She also told fans in one of her books that she suffered a stroke in 2013.
Her health issues were so troublesome to her that she once considered assisted suicide and even joined a group to explore the option, but was convinced by her husband, Erwin Bach, to undergo the kidney transplant, instead. Bach also donated one of his kidneys to her for the operation.
