Chris Perez reports at the NY Post that the Lehe Ledu Wildlife Zoo in Chongqing city is giving people the hair-raising chance to learn what it’s like to come face to face with an apex predator. Visitors pay to be caged inside the back of a truck as it makes its way through the animal park. Just to make sure they get the attention of the beasts, huge chunks of raw meat are tied to the bars to lure them as close as possible. “We wanted to give our visitors the thrill of being stalked and attacked by the big cats but with, of course, none of the risks,” says Chan Liang. “The guests are warned to keep their fingers and hands inside the cage at all times because a hungry tiger wouldn’t know the difference between them and breakfast.” According to CNN the trips have been sold out for the next three months. “It’s like nothing I’ve ever experienced before in a zoo,” says Tao Jen. “We’re not looking at them, they’re looking at us — and we’re lunch.”

In their defense, Dinosaurs would be Much, Much Stronger and harder to control. I would have a hard time seeing something like this working in the US, if only due to animal rights activists.

Well, CA has slightly lower rates than the average of the country (1/4 instead of 1/3), but I can understand the need of the zoo to protect the the lions from the terribly unhealthy food found in the cars.

I live close to Lion Country Safari, and have been their twice.
While a lot of the animals roam freely next to your vehicle (got trapped for 10+ minutes by a bunch of juvenile zebras blocking the road), the Lions are less exiting. First, they are kept in separate cages away from the road, so don't roam freely next to you. Second, Lions don't move period in the South Florida heat and humidity (I suppose I would have to check it out in winter time during early morning for a better experience).

That's called a safari park here, and the cages are called cars. Attaching meat is a new one, I'll give you that.

I've heard it's not that uncommon to "seed" the safari trail in Africa, because predators an prey are pretty good at hiding, the spaces immense, but the average Joe tourist wants his pictures to keep dropping wads of cash.

I once visited a zoo that had arrows everywhere giving the directions for "The Most Dangerous Animal in the World". After a while, I spotted the cage.
The detailed description of the species, with name, food habits, behaviour, habitat, etc. is in a plate besides the cage, just like in all other cages in that zoo. The only difference is that this one is an empty cage with an open door.
This "The Most Dangerous Animal in the World" is called homo sapiens. Visitors are supposed to enter the cage and have their friends take pictures of them from the outside. A big plate saying "The Most Dangerous Animal in the World" is clearly visible in all the pictures.

I've been to the Beijing Zoo a couple times. The first time on my own, the second time for a group trip. Visitors routinely abused the animals, whose cages were horrific steel and concrete affairs with not even a pastiche of habitat. They threw rubbish at the creatures; one man I saw put out his cigarette on the back of a sea otter that lay, semi-comatose and forlorn, on a concrete slab that constituted its enclosure.
Throwing Chinese to the animals in the zoo would accomplish nothing lasting because of the Chinese relativity theorem ("No matter what it is, a billion Chinese couldn't give a damn"), but it would be a smidgeon of poetic justice.
