You now have to resort to lies to even think of anything original to accuse somebody of. We have 2 Perl programmers who are waiting for the new site to be established.

I now treat janrinok as if he were a Generative Artificial Intelligence, and am not convinced that this is wrong. He goes on, at great length, in ways that seem to make sense, but ultimately support white supremacists and incels. This is not healthy, nor rational, nor what the actual janrinok would intend. Perhaps he needs to do some more due diligence in the supervision of his AIs? Remember, a generative AI only predicts text, given a prompt, so actually it is only a glorified auto-correct. And we all know how accurate those are, and how accurate janrinok is, with his doxxing of the ACs.

I suspect he thought up most of those names on the fly, just looking to attack people he doesn't like. However, one of them is a bit more interesting: Ralph JewHater Nader.
I've seen that username before. Ralph JewHater Nader [slashdot.org] was a very prolific troll account on Slashdot. It might be the most vile troll account in the history of Slashdot. It posted hundreds of comments, perhaps even thousands of them, pretty much all of which were blatantly antisemitic and racist. It routinely advocated for the genocide of Jews, and encouraged extreme cruelty. Here's a sample of some things that account posted, though I'll use asterisks to edit out slurs.

There are hundreds more comments like those, posted over the span of a year or two. Ralph JewHader Nader was a prolific troll account, repeatedly posting vile racist and antisemitic comments, and routinely supporting genocide.
That account name was not random, nor was it likely to be something that was invented on the spot. It was likely created because of the Slashdot account with the same name. I'm somewhat familiar with Ralph JewHader Nader's posting history on Slashdot, and it's one of the old troll accounts I actually remember, like cyborg_monkey, spork_testicle, and SCO$699FeeTroll. If aristarchus created a Ralph JewHader Nader account here, I'm sure he is aware of that account's history on Slashdot, and it says a lot about his character.

Just as were several comments recently. All from the same hashes, all verified by connection to other posts that you have made at the same time where you actually claim to be 'aristarchus'. So it seems that you either are aristarchus or you are frequently claiming to be him. Are you suffering from a multiple personality disorder? You will be treated as 'aristarchus'.

Same hashes, hashes only janrinok can see, the hashes of the aristrarchus. This would be funny, if it did not indicate a serious mental illness. Your data cannot be correct, janrinok, because I know the hashes are not the same. What is wrong with you? Did you have a "incident"? Are you having an "episode"? Um, janrinok, are you not aware that IP addresses are, in many cases, dynamic? That means they can change, and are not a reliable identifier of an individual user. Use of a VPN make that even the more so, so that the coincidence that one AC has the same hash as some other AC, some years ago, does not remotely mean they are the same person. Do you understand how the internets works? It's not a bunch of trucks, with license plates, it is more like a series of tubes, and you never know where the dump is coming from. So, stop with the foolishness, janrinok. Give it up. I am aristarchus.

I understand that perfectly. But when IP addresses are only used by a single account in over 9 years then it is a fairly good indicator that they are being used by the same person, particularly when they have used that IP for several years as a named account. A VPN might be used by millions of people, but we are only interested in the ones who access this site. Most hashes are unique. Where they have been used by more than one identity it is clearly obvious to us.
But for the reasons that you state we DO NOT rely solely on IP addresses. There are other correlations that can be made that assist with identifying the user. For example, I can tie 5 different comments into the hashes that are associated with 5 separate comments made over a period of 16 minutes this morning. The chances of those comments coming from completely different users but all commenting in a short time period and all looking remarkably similar to those easily associated with a specific account are astronomically huge.
There are also additional clues such as :

Okay, I'm curious about something I hadn't seen before.
Some of the comments in this thread, including the one I'm replying to, do not have a Moderation dropdown box nor button available, tho I still have mod points.
At first I thought it only applied to posts already at -1 Spam, but then I noticed a couple of yours also with no mod dropdown available and no moderate button, as if I were out of points (I have three at the moment, or so it tells me).

Nobody else seems to have reported the problem and I can see them all, so it sounds as if it might be something specific to your account. I have checked your settings and there doesn't appear to be anything unusual about them. I will have to dig a bit deeper....

Nope. After I moderate, the mod dropdown and button always remains visible. (Maybe it only disappears with JS active?)
If I try to moderate a comment a second time (having forgot I did already), it just reloads the page and nothing changes.
Previously, the only comments where I saw no mod boxen were my own.
I've never seen today's weirdness before.

I'll join the C64 party. It's not entirely true, but close enough. I think the first computer I ever used was some little kit machine, then it was a ZX80/81. But none of them where mine and I wouldn't say I used them very much, due to age and well they being kind of crap. The C64 was the first machine that was mine. But then as far as OS go it was nothing much. So perhaps I should have gone with the Amiga as that in some regard had more of an OS that we would still recognize as such today. For most I guess the C64 was just two lines of text and a ready prompt with a blinking cursor that they used to launch their games. It was to me to at the time, it just grew to so much more somewhat later.

I consider the C-64 the first machine I truly used also, even though I was briefly stuck with a TI 99/4A. It was a gift, not of my choosing. That locked down PoS set me back at least a year. There was no way to save programs without costly upgrades, and the low-level PEEK and POKE available on common 8-bit systems of the era was hidden from the user.

The first one I used were also a Commodore 64 belonging to a friend. Remember buying all those thick, British computer magazines printed on the cheapest paper available with filled with the code for a lot of programs and simple games.
The next one was a Tiki 100 [wikipedia.org] in high school that used TIKO, a CP/M 2.2-compatible OS.

Yep. The first computer I did actual work on was a CDC Cyber 175 [wikipedia.org] programming in Pascal at university.
A few years earlier, my dad had dragged me into work and let me futz with some IBM monstrosity (late 60's - text console based lunar lander game - don't touch anything else!)

Ah, thank you. I was fairly young in the 1970s, but had a friend who was a couple of years older who had a login to a large city's school system's main computer- CDC 7600. Yes, acoustical coupler. He taught me some BASIC, and there were a couple of games, and that's all I remember of that. I didn't remember the name of the OS, or whatever friend did to log in. Could the login have been a BASIC interpreter shell? It seems like it was, but again, it was so so long ago, and I was mostly looking over his shoulder.

DOS means "disk operating system", right? The various DOS programs did indeed operate the disks, so that you could access the data, and do things. Today, we still have DOS incorporated into the broader operating system, but it's still a "disk operating system". Whenever we decide to obsolete disks, and eliminate them, then we will no longer have a "disk operating system", but we will still have OSs.

RS-DOS on the CoCo 2, though calling RS-DOS an operating system is a stretch. OS-9 Level 2 was my first real operating system.

Scientifically pirated DOS/VSE OS on EC1040, a clone of IBM System/370 machine.
I think the CPU itself was EC1044, all fresh new TTL logic. It was an in-site replacement of Siemens 2000, ancient DTL logic.
That one was the very first machine I really punched my own program for, at age 14. So it does count as 'first use'.
PL/I code. Handed cards into feeder myself. It compiled and worked perfectly on a first run of a job.
Frankly, I wrote some programs for several other platforms even before, but did not managed to get access to them.
A word of advice: use pencil and paper to write your program first, before any editing. It helps you to think straight.

I used pen and paper too, then discovered that when you're not into figuring algorithms out it's just quicker to try what works in the debugger then discovered perplexity.ai, which does not require login, and it's the ideal boilerplate/code examples generator. I'm told there are specialized tools for code refactoring and stuff.

George 2 on an ICL1900e was the first machine that ran code written by me (written in Fortran4, Algo60, and PLAN (1900 assembler).
I did have prior contact with IBJOB on an IBM709 and later an IBM7090 through helping my mum, but that was mostly helping fix the JCL code.

The big fat manual. The first real, physical manual I ever possessed, was for MSDOS 5. I think it was 5.0, don't think there was a 5.1 or higher, but I can't remember. I'm pretty sure the manual is still around here somewhere, buried deep among stuff I haven't used for years.
I devoured that manual, then went back to discover all the cool stuff I had missed. Dear Wife blew her stack when the computer booted with a multi-config screen that she couldn't decipher. (Basically, a menu, where you chose to boot up for gamine, or general computing, with or without network support, how to configure memory, etc.)

CP/M came with a fat manual, too. I used to hand the book to people and challenge them to tell me what the first sentence (paragraph?) meant. It was pretty impenetrable. Unlike IBM's manuals, where you had to stop and think about every sentence, but there was heavily-distilled meaning, and not a character was wasted.
Fortunately, if your computer came with CP/M installed (as opposed to home brew), all you really needed was a cheat sheet of commands.

Before moving to MS-DOS I had an Apple ][e and used the OS on that. Not Mac/Lisa, before that I believe. 64k of RAM total. Fun times and learned a lot.

The environment in the ROM of the ][e was applesoft basic, the actual DOS was DOS 3.x, most probably DOS 3.3. Later you could use ProDOS.

I am pretty certain that there are more than two women on SN. I'll not identify those people whom I think are female, nor will I identify those of whom I'm nearly certain. If they wanted you to know, they would have told you. For that matter, if they wanted me to know for sure, they would have told me.
