I thought it this would be fun everybody. I thought it might be interesting to compare desktop screenshots and see what other SoylentNews user interfaces look like. Tiling window manager or stacking? Desktop environment or not? Are you minimalist? What operating systems are you using?

What about your phone/tablet/phablet?

I'll start: Desktop and Cellular Phone.

Yes, it's an odd couple, but I find myself most productive in Slackware on the desktop, and Windows Phone is the only smartphone OS I can stand to use for more than five minutes.

Slackware64 running Window Maker on my workstation: http://imgur.com/FkKE2IG [imgur.com]

    Windows Phone 8.1 on my Lumia 521: http://imgur.com/UrZVCGp [imgur.com]

This machine dual boots into Haiku OS as well, but I'm compiling some packages right now so I'm not going to bother with rebooting to grab a screenshot of that OS.

It is very nice to see some are still running WindowMaker. IMHO it is one of the best traditional window managers ever made. Personally, I never saw anything better with Fluxbox and the other *box that mostly took over everywhere.

WindowMaker runs faster than *box without using more resources. It also does everything you want and allows you both to use a graphical built in tool for configuring as well as text files. The only thing Fluxbox does which WindowMaker does not is tabbing random windows together. However, there is much WindowMaker can do which Fluxbox & Co does not do.

Over the years I've gone back and forth between Window Maker, Openbox, and Fluxbox, and I'm in Window Maker now for the reasons you mentioned, plus it just looks better than the others. I've also always been fond of NeXT and GNUStep, and it fills that desire as well. I got tired of spending hours setting up Openbox in Slackware to be as good as Window Maker always was out of the box, and it seems that the older I get, the less time I have to devote to twiddling around.
