I am referring to those things that can use browsers to buy stuff, send e-mails etc.
my guess is that yes, such AI agents will be able to create accounts, and I'm just wondering how long before aristarchus or someone else decides to automate their harassment. or maybe it already happened?
in any case, I'd recommend that you guys keep this in mind, I'm not sure if the "hold on there cowboy" post limit will be enough (is that even applied to logged in users?).

Have you noticed how quickly AC replies to some posts in journals? A message can be posted then if you reload the page there's already a reply. A human can't read and then type that fast.

No, I never noticed that, but now that you bring it up. Have you noticed that comet 3I/ ATLAS is on a trajectory that no human could have plotted, almost like it was designed to frustrate our attempts to observe it? Not saying it was aliens, but, it's aliens! Never imagined they would start shit-posting on SoylentNews, though.

Do not SuperNovae and FGRBs also visit our solar system? Yet we no not say they are extra-stellar to our system! Oh, wait, we do. Here, I have two halves of an asteroid here, let me clang them together. (Do you have any idea how much even a small asteroid composed entirely of platinum is worth? )

Different AC, but I'm not convinced it has been automated. I've dealt with automated bots of all kinds and they don't behave the way that poster seems to act from the information I have available. I think the manual posting, along with making many posts easy to identify, is a part of the ritual behavior. Otherwise, sheer annoyance would be easier to achieve and more effective using other means.

Indeed. I have considered automated posting and discarded it. While it would be karmic I do not want to use such negative methods. I let the truth speak louder, and every easy click of censorship hides legitimate effort. For me at least, and let me use the stolen symbol of satisfaction ;^)
