Fedora is a perfectly cromulent distribution. I don't have the same hate for Microsoft/Apple though. I grew up on DOS and used an Apple II in school. ChromeOS / Chrome books however, definitely get my ire. Part of it was the horrible laptops they had for ChromeOS at the start. The second part is essentially giving up control of your Software and Hardware to Google. That is dumb. Microsoft has gone from the "try to be compatible with everything" to "sell out to everything" OS. I don't want Candy Crush installed at all, let alone when I first setup my computer! The Windows Recall "feature" is just a new way for them to get even more data off you. At least Apple has been reasonably consistent since Jobs adjusted their trajectory after they tried to be Windows. High priced, very targeted specs, and typically very stable Hardware/OS. While I'm not interested in overpriced hardware, etc. Looking at you Apple with the extortinate priced RAM upgrades or literal lack of ability to upgrade. They certainly have produced some interesting and good hardware over the years. My household is now a fully Linux household as of October 2025. Wife and kiddo were on Linux from the start as it was a nice way to save $120 per machine as I never did Windows Home as a product. They were a good place to start as I built new computers for them them both when the building was good a year or two ago.
