I'm currently on Devuan Linux. I answered that if I could no longer use any Linux, I'd pick a BSD. It was there as beckoning alternative. But I'd also be tempted by
Hurd
Inferno, a successor to Plan 9, a successor to Unix. But right now I don't think either of these are quite ready for serious use.
