I've been staying in a motel the last week, because we had an arrangement where an apartment would become available on the 15th. That has fallen through and I don't have anywhere to go. I can't afford another week at this extended stay motel. I have $300 in my checking account. The motel takes $350 a week for me, my 67 year old mother, and two cats.
The fault is partly ours, and partly the wishy-washy landlord.
She guaranteed us the previous tenants would move out since they had given notice, and they did not. My mother is the one who decided to take this arrangement despite my concerns, god bless her, but now it seems my fears were accurate. The next place needs to be in my name I think.
I'm in Mesa Arizona.
Can anyone hear my quiet gurgling for help?
My email is thinkingrodent@gmail.com if anyone wants to help me financially. That's what my paypal is linked to.
Squeak.
Edit: Thank you to NORCOM and Krishna. You've given me a huge help. I am the author of the Epoch Init System, something I didn't mention before, so perhaps your kindness will allow me the stability to improve Epoch.

When I bought my house ~12 years ago, it wasn't finished being built. We were told by the builder that it would be finished in December, and we generally had all of our money tied up with the down payment, and fixing some credit issues that would have prevented the bank from closing. December came and went without the house being finished. I ended up homeless for 3 months. My wife and I living out of our cars. It was a rather eye opening experience.
I hope things work out for you.

I'm unable to help you directly but homelessness is a serious for any geek when their work can be outsourced at short notice. Indeed, given that the world price for programming is US$2 per hour, only niche markets exceed the minimum wage in affluent countries. I've tried to highlight homelessness on this forum. Specifically, my first rejected submission which wasn't a duplicate was on this topic [soylentnews.org].
I hope you don't end up in a tent city or a storm drain. However, I don't see any way around the 72 million people in the US who are predicted to become homeless [archive.org].
