TAILS is a live system that aims to preserve your privacy and anonymity. It helps you to use the Internet anonymously and circumvent censorship almost anywhere you go and on any computer but leaving no trace unless you ask it to explicitly.

It is a complete operating system designed to be used from a DVD, USB stick, or SD card independently of the computer's original operating system. It is Free Software and based on Debian GNU/Linux.

Tails comes with several built-in applications pre-configured with security in mind: web browser, instant messaging client, email client, office suite, image and sound editor, etc. - https://tails.boum.org/about/index.en.html

# Check first the about and warning pages to make sure that Tails is the right tool for you and that you understand well its limitations.

It can be downloaded here. There is plenty more info on the site, linked to above, giving details of the security enhancements and bug fixes over previous versions.

Additionally it uses I2P (Invisible Internet Project) which is another privacy scheme different than Tor. HTTPS Everywhere is also a key piece, as is paying special attention to deleting temporary cache and files.

All that should have been in the story summary along with mentioning Debian IMO.

In the subject line you say it uses TOR, in the body, you say it uses something else. I'm confused.

"Additionally" leads me to suspect that No Respect was trying to say it uses both. Searching the web confirmed this. From Tails - I2P [boum.org]:

I2P has been included since Tails 0.7 with Iceweasel preconfigured using FoxyProxy so that eepsites (.i2p TLD) are directed to I2P. All other traffic gets routed through Tor.

I modded down this AC as a troll. To explain, I think the AC was making reference to GP's actual history of mental illness. I've seen other anonymous posts making similar comments to Mr. Crawford, and I consider them a form of ongoing harassment. I suspect that at least some of them are the work of a single individual, but I don't know that. I don't think this kind of harassment should be banned, but I do think it should be modded into oblivion. I definitely reserve the right to make jokes that offend people, including jokes about other peoples' actual mental illnesses, but I'm not going to follow a man with schizoaffective disorder around the internet trolling him. That's an asshole move, even in my book.

of attending music school so I could learn to compose symphonies, or rather write them down as I compose them in my thoughts.

I really dont want to be a comouter programmer anymore. I have been clear about that for many years. But somehow modus takes offense.

He also tracked down a close friend of mine after I mentioned that I knew a certain skydiver in my k5 diary. This leads me to believe that modus was once a close friend of mine at UCSC but I stopped speaking to him after I asked him why he was so cruel to her:

"If you kick a dog it will be your best friend."

I dont know for sure that its him so I dont give his name.

Cyberstalking is a felony howver only I have standing to complain. My take is that the best response to hate speech is more speech.

There is also some possibility that modus is someone I met during eighth grade, who went on to stalk that same skydiver as well as a woman who clearly wanted to marry me. If it's that fellow at least I understand why as I am intimately familiar with his family.

Just updated my Bittorrent server with this release. I always leave TAILS seeding 24/7, it's the least I can do as a "fuck you" to NSA and all the other surveillance states in the world. Of course, this means I am definitely being spied on by NSA more closely than the average shitizen. If you've ever even done a web search for TAILS or other privacy tools you are targeted for increased surveillance. [makeuseof.com]

I would guess they look at the IP addresses of people who connect to tails.boum.org, not Google searches for the word "tails".
