Here we go again. AC is excluded of course because he cheats by having tens of thousands of people do his posting for him.

Yes it seems that many people confuse differing opinions with trolling. Although I will say Ethanol-Fueled seems to have mastered both. A few of these people are on my friends list because they post interesting stuff, and offer widely differing opinions. It is too easy to get trapped inside an echo chamber hearing only those people that agree or support your own opinions or points of view. The thing that Soylent really offers is an audience of a truly wide variety, I just wish the audience would continue growing.

Yep, agree on all counts. Many a time an opposing viewpoint has changed my mind, or conversely contributed reasoning to support my own position. Silencing them as "trolls" would be foolish.
Sometimes I mod up posts I disagree with too, because I see some value in it as counterpoint, or think the entire comment chain needs to be dragged into the light. (Couple days ago I was amused to see a post I'd just marked as "insightful" come back as "+4 Troll")
In any event, nowadays most of what gets called trolling is wholly in the eye of the beholder.... who too often forgets that the phrase is "trolling for suckers".

Where does "flamebait" fit in with trolling?
I've read the moderation guidelines and have use them to decide to moderate some trollish posts as "flamebait" largely because the author used profane ad hominem or the like.
I'm curious what the numbers might look like when both troll and flamebait mods are taken into consideration.

Last time I checked with Flamebait included, there were only a few place changes. Nobody got booted from the list or anyone new added.
