As Donald Trump emerged as the winner of the American presidential campaign Tuesday night, 100,000 people in the Unites States visited Canada's immigration website, contributing to a crash.

Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada confirmed that visitors from the U.S. made up half the traffic on its website when it "started to experience difficulties" around 11 p.m. on Nov. 8. The usual proportion of visitors from the U.S. ranges from 8.8 to 11.6 per cent.

In total, 200,000 users were on the website when it crashed, compared to 17,000 users at the same time the previous week.

Sounds like Canada needs to build a wall to keep out waves of illegal immigrants trying to escape their dysfunctional government to seek a better life in the North.

It would probably be cheaper for Canada to invade the US, depose the ruling class and annex the country. That would also make the southern wall obsolete.

      That's called "spreading democracy".

Democracy is usually spread on countries that have oil - and the US has a lot of it. Also, Canada could come up with a pretty convincing file on US WMDs at the United Nations. So yeah, I'd say they have a pretty strong case to start the spreading.

In the UK, we might consider welcoming the US back into the commonwealth, if they were sufficiently apologetic for the interregnum.

      With what?

Threaten them we'll have our CF-18s fly over there and lose parts over the country?

They need to build a Maginot Line. Fleeing to Canada make as much sense as fleeing to France before WW2.

...which the US will pay for.
