I would like to see deathbed confessions from people like The Clapper, Dick Cheney, etc. Maybe in their final moments they will say "fuck it" and correct the record. Even if these confessions are largely ignored or written off [wikipedia.org], they could still be valuable to historians.

Are you really trying to say people don't believe deathbed confessions and then use the example of Howard Hunt? Just wow. That "confession," if true, occurred in front of only two of his children, the same ones that had money trouble and tried to scam him of money before he died, but not his wife or other children. Then you have to look at the almost non-existent evidence of that conspiracy they offered, some of which was obviously fabricated. Plus, the people claimed to be involved included a who's who of top C.I.A. brass under many presidents, Chilean spies, Fidel Castro's would be assassin, two Watergate burglars, and someone who was actually dead at the time.
The one I hear about a lot is Frank Sheeran. Guy whacks his best buddy, then rats on the guys that hired him to do it. So disgusting. Never hire an Irishman to do an Italian's job!
And on every phone in America -- also around the World. They didn't call it WIRETAPP. They called it, Section 215. Sounds so "nice," right? It wasn't nice. And I stopped that one. Bush Jr. loved it, Cheatin' 0 loved it -- I stopped it.
By the way, James Clapper, who famously got caught lying to Congress, was one of the biggest liars in Washington, is now an authority on Donald Trump. Will he show you his beautiful letter to me?

Show me a more prominent recent deathbed confession, real or fake. Either I'm not paying attention or they don't actually happen very often.
