Journal by aristarchus

So there it is. janrinok did not respond directly to my challenge, like a gentleman, but he is English, so some accommodation is in order.

But he did, or, at least he might have, reigned in his dog, (and, yes, I know that the proper word is "reined", but there was precipitation) and with that admission, I consider the matter to be partially closed.

In the future, I expect aristarchus submissions to be given equal consideration with all other submissions, and not be dismissed without cause, hint, or license. And I expect Editors to be able to distinguish alt-right agitprop, and islamophobic hysteria, and Runaway submissions when they fit one of those categories,

But, and let me make this clear, the next time there is such an affront to justice and myself, or any other honorable Soylentil, I will demand satisfaction in blood. Or ouzo. Either way.

Followed immediately by this:

We're sorry, your submission "Perché l’associazione ultra cattolica di Bannon vuole una scuola di sovranisti in Italia:" was declined for the following reason:
Submissions must be in English - https://soylentnews.org/faq.pl?op=editorial. -- JR

Do you not realize, denizen of the Fairy Isles to the West, that to a Greek Italian is English? Americans are the problem. Monolingual troglodytes who Steve Bannon is going to bambozzle.
----------------------
Further followed by a newsworthy submission:
https://soylentnews.org/submit.pl?op=viewsub&subid=33468
Rejected by takyon with the words:

We're sorry, your submission "2 from white supremacist group plead guilty in Charlottesville rally violence" was declined for the following reason:
nope -takyon

Seems nothing has changed. #freearistarchus!!!!

_______
And I would be remiss if I did not profusely thank Azuma Hazuki for her invaluable service as a second in this affair. Without her, the matter would not have ended as amicably as it did. ありがとう、お姉さん.

If you issue a challenge, put it where it will be read. I rarely read journals, and yours in particular because I've already read the junk when your submission was rejected. :)

All submissions are treated in exactly the same way. I do try to sign all my rejections with my initials. However, when we do a clear out of time-expired stories they just get deleted all together and there is no mechanism for explaining why they are being rejected in that instance.

Also, stop your "witty" editorializing. Some of your submissions might not be "bad", if you just left the commentary out. You''re not really all that witty.

Unfortunately, according to the Wikipedia, [wikipedia.org]

Opus Dei was founded in Spain in 1928 by Catholic saint and priest Josemaría Escrivá and was given final Catholic Church approval in 1950 by Pope Pius XII.

            Google Escrivá.

Opus Dei has been described as the most controversial force within the Catholic Church, especially as a result of their close ties with the fascist Franco regime in Spain during his rule.

And I always recommend Pan's Labyrinth [imdb.com] for a taste of how lovely the alt-right (Fascists) were under Franco.

And I always recommend Pan's Labyrinth for a taste of how lovely the alt-right (Fascists) were under Franco.

You can recommend that but it misses the important historical context of communists murdering and raping people. Communist violence was the pivot that propelled fascists to power in Italy, Germany and Spain. In Spain, the "agrarian reform" or white terror was preempted by the red terror and the seemingly random murder of innocent people. You're not only disingenuous to consistently point at Fascist violence when Marxism has revolutionary violence at it's core but also when you persistently attempt to link individualist ideologies to fascism (literally collectivism).

From the rapes of the occupy movement [thefeministwire.com] through gamergate [twitter.com] to the psychopathy [spectator.org] of the womans march; people on the left collectivize because they are awful individuals. Taken in the wider context of objective reality, your claimed morality and ethics are anything but.

              Voltaire: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Voltaire#Religious_views [wikipedia.org]

In a 1763 essay, Voltaire supported the toleration of other religions and ethnicities: "It does not require great art, or magnificently trained eloquence, to prove that Christians should tolerate each other. I, however, am going further: I say that we should regard all men as our brothers. What? The Turk my brother? The Chinaman my brother? The Jew? The Siam? Yes, without doubt; are we not all children of the same father and creatures of the same God?"[124]

In one of his many denunciations of priests of every religious sect, Voltaire describes them as those who "rise from an incestuous bed, manufacture a hundred versions of God, then eat and drink God, then piss and shit God."[125]

              ...
According to one story of his last words, his response to a priest at his deathbed urging him to renounce Satan was "Now is not the time for making new enemies."[98] [AC note: this may have been made up later.]
