I'm not going to recap the recent history of 8chan, or 8ch.net. It appeared that it was dead. But, no, it's still alive. That, or someone has put up a reasonable facsimile thereof. 8kun.net It appears they are having some kind of issues, pages take many seconds to load. I was curious how long it would take them to get back online. I'm also curious if some of their stupid shit will be toned down. Not all boards are operational yet, it seems. Enjoy . . . ?

I haven't found a chan yet that I want to spend any time on. Like any other trashy site, people should be aware of them, but there is no need to join them. I've also tracked down and visited various sites around the world, claimed to be terrorist sites, spy sites, hacker sites, whatever. Some of them I couldn't even get into, but I did see their front pages, at the least. There's a LOT of stuff on the web that Mr. Average American is unaware of.

Maybe. I can't imagine it going down any other way. Except for just using the existing internet with plenty of decentralized protocols.

Protocols, sure. Some people close to me work on new decentralized protocols, but their stage is still theoretical mostly and too academic. One of my ideas I was able to convey to them was versor addresses, hamiltonian style chaotic routing (slerp is cheap to compute) and so. They are currently digesting that. What I was not able to pass to them yet completely is... octaplex. But with 5G networks and ipv6 everywhere as a base transport, maybe we could get a quite new landscape, I am looking forward to this. But what I am very sure, we all need many different and independent protocols to fragment the cyberspace effectively, to prevent and evade enforcement, so it is quite essential that many different groups shall start inventing their own stuff.
