Portable AC Taking the Country By Storm

Wondered how the anonymous coward was taking the country by storm.
Took me a while to realize it was talking about air conditioning.

And this is the only thing I thought was significant enough to post as a journal article in many years of Soylent News participation?

Is this a pathetic response to social isolation or what?

That kind of thing happens to everyone at some point. Whether it's due to cultural association, work, or what have you. Acronyms are ambiguous. Which is why you should always spell it out the first time, preferably with the acronym in parentheses after, when writing about something.

SNAFU is the one most people misunderstand. They think it means "mistake" when it really means precisely the opposite

In the military, things were often SNAFU. Many times things would be FUBAR. At the worst times things were SNAFUBAR. And you knew you would have one of those special days when the day of the week ended in the letter "y."

When you mention AC next to DC, you would have Thomas Edison spining in his grave. Even worse when you put AC before DC!

(If Thomas Edison were spinning in his grave, would it generate an AC current?)

Portable and personal AC is bad in most instances. This guy does a good explanation of why:
