SpaceX Starlink brings Internet to emergency responders in wildfire areas:

SpaceX Starlink is providing Internet access to Washington state emergency responders in areas ravaged by wildfires. The group has deployed seven Starlink user terminals (i.e. satellite dishes) since it began using the service in early August, as CNBC reported yesterday:

"I have never set up any tactical satellite equipment that has been as quick to set up, and anywhere near as reliable" as Starlink, Richard Hall, the emergency telecommunications leader of the Washington State Military Department's IT division, told CNBC in an interview Monday.

Tesla has a 17 year history of near-bankruptcy and bailouts.

I'm curious to hear what bailouts you're referring to? I know they got a COVID related one, but I've never heard of another.

    SpaceX - Government contracts...

Are you including US Defence and NASA launches in there? I am also wondering about launches for foreign entities, which quite often include governments (Canada, Malaysia, Bangladesh). I was under the impression that SpaceX was one of the largest launchers of private satellites, such as Iridium. They appear to be making money hand over fist, although that may also be Gwynne Shotwell's control.

Starlink - demos are good. But real-world usage when millions of people on the system? It's going to be poor and/or as expensive as Iridium or whatever.

Do you have a link on that, or is it just guesswork? Do remember that the expense is getting the constellation up there, and paying less than a quarter of normal sat launch costs will be a huge savings.
