That's why she refused to vote for a minimum pay increase that would apply nationwide, until her and her husband's businesses were exempted from the minimum wage. Just doing what she was hired to do, right?

For once I disagree with you. Some of the strongest reasons the Founding Fathers broke away from England, or any other overlord, was to prevent any one person from having too much power. Power can destroy an otherwise good person.

Although I strongly agree that Nancy Pelosi was (very) divisive, incited anger, and escalated US division to the point of triggering civil war, I blame the system itself. The President was never supposed to have the amount of power they've amassed. Congress is supposed to represent We The People, get things done, undo incorrect actions and laws, including limiting presidential, or any other one person's power.

I'm still working on how to fix Congress. I strongly believe that lobbyists, although conceptually a good idea, are a major part of the problem. To me it seems quite obvious- rich people, usually through their corporations, hire lobbyists to strongly influence Congress in ways that keep said person's money flowing in to them.

Another thought is that life has become so very complex that there's aren't enough individuals in Congress to do the job. They all have staff, but maybe that's not enough. Maybe Congress needs to be 3 or 4 Senators from each state, and maybe House much bigger? Thinking out loud- maybe just a more hierarchical system with existing Congress setup, but each have a defined set of also elected underlings who contribute a percentage of the vote.

All that said, making such changes could be more disruptive than helpful. So back to just get rid of lobbyists. They are the spam of the US government system.
