A Manhattan federal jury found that Donald Trump sexually abused E. Jean Carroll in a luxury department store dressing room in the spring of 1996 and awarded her $5 million for battery and defamation.

Carroll alleged Trump raped her in the Bergdorf Goodman department store and then defamed her when he denied her claim, said she wasn’t his type and suggested she made up the story to boost sales of her book. Trump denied all wrongdoing. He does not face any jail time as a result of the civil verdict.

I know that if you are trying to be a gold digger after a few decades, your claim should be considered spurious. Maybe he grabbed her by the pussy, maybe she liked it at the time. She doesn't need 5mil for her supposed trauma.

Yeah, if you managed to live your life for decades, with no mention of being raped, but you suddenly can't live with it anymore, people really need to look at the financial angle. Or the political angle. There needs to be some kind of evidence to convict a man of rape.

Given that you disagree with both the judge and the jury in this civil case, you'll need to provide some kind of evidence that you have actually reviewed the facts and history of the case and can come up with a plausible argument why you might be correct. Were you in the courtroom? It's relevant, because simply using the media reports as your sources is completely inadequate.

I find that I could see him doing it, but who knows, considering the incident was from 1996. Public opinion was more likely to swing against the woman at that time, compared to nowadays. Better? Worse? Still broken, yes.

            E. Jean Carroll said it was not about the money but about getting her name back. Trump ruined her name.

Trump said in deposition that she's not his type, yet he then went on talking about how hot she was when seeing a photo of her that dates from about the time of the alleged incident.

            E. Jean Carroll produced an actual court case.

Trump didn't even bother to show up. He couldn't look her in the eye. He couldn't look the jury in the eye. Then in TYPICAL Trump fashion, he LIES that he didn't have a chance to defend himself. But of course, Trump lying is not a surprise. Seeing you unconditionally defend him is not a surprise.

Other things Trump said that have been public for years are (1) the access hollywood tapes [and I won't repeat that here], and (2) that the AIDS epidemic was his own personal Vietnam.

Trump is a fine Christian man who has three wives, the second two of which he was having an affair with while still married to the prior wife.

I could go on about Trump, but the man and his own public words and public behavior make E. Jean Carroll's account highly believable. Do you actually believe that E. Jean Carroll was NOT sexually assaulted by Trump?

How many others like E. Jean Carroll did not want to put their entire life into the public spotlight and kept quiet?

Conservatives have settled on hatred after being manipulated by rightwing rhetoric engineered to keep them angry. That is why Trump appealed to them. They refuse to put up decent politicians to oppose him, and to deflect from this they spend their entire time and money budgets attacking. They don't articulate any decent policies and their entire election strategy is "at least we're not Trump".

I don't like Trump, but if the Democrats run senile 84 year old candidate against Trump in 2024 then they are just giving the election to him.

His basic point is correct. It is currently impossible to criticize a Democrat, or a Democrat's actions, or Democrat party policies without a being screamed down as a Trump supporter.

That's what happens when you claim something the dems do is bad but ignore it when "your side" is doing it. Sometimes you land there when you rush to his defense without thinking it through, other times it happens when your news sources just plain don't cover it. You don't lose the debates you have a solid foundation on.

This is all immaterial because you can make an argument that the dems got trump elected, but that's where the blame ends. Can't blame them for J6, ya'all tried and it failed. That wasn't because the phrase "orange fan mad" was a lethal blow. 🙄

See?? There you go again! You say that Trump is "my side". You just don't stop with the BS. We don't rag on Trump because we don't vote for him, this is what we expect from him, there is no need to talk about him. People who claim to be better actually have to do better to be taken seriously and win my vote. They are the ones I will criticize. They don't really oppose him, if they did, they would run better people instead of just repeating "We're not Trump! 2024", the other AC is right. The rules are simple and finite.

1/ I don't like Trump. He is a loudmouth buffoon.
2/ However, Trump is objectively NOT worse than someone with advanced senile dementia.
3/ On an objective evaluation, what was so bad about the Trump presidency?

Regarding 3/ I don't like Trump, but given four years of being President, why is it so hard for the Senile Dementia Defenders to point at something Trump did wrong on a national policy level, rather than the personal attacks? Much as we might dislike him, he didn't actually start gassing the people he didn't like in concentration camps, or start any wars for profit.
