Will be buying a desktop (parts to put together myself with my son).
The eternal question is Nvidia vs AMD.
Also looking at CPU and graphics card vs Integrated.
I don't need AMAZING GRAPHICS QUALITY or blazing speed. What i want is good graphics that are stable and can play some of the games like Battletech, Planetary Annihilation. Nothing amazing, but stable.
Looking more at AMD after some looking, but want it to be OOTB and STABLE.
Anyone have any ideas and luck?
The $150 gap between 5600X and 5800X is just waiting for a Ryzen 7 5700X to be dropped in.

Amy Coney Barrett’s beet-pink dress spoke before she did: it looked sensible, practical, and stoically feminine, an image she aims to project.
It was a pretty dress, maybe even stylish by D.C.’s standards. A flat bow rested on her right shoulder, just underneath a string of pearls. The justice picked a very nice outfit for her first confirmation hearing. Too bad it was curated for such an ugly, rotten process.
The dress stood out in a room full of anodyne blue and black suits; it spoke of soft prettiness when the proceedings are about the very opposite. Her outfit radiates a maternal warmth, an easy comfort. It hides her staunchly right-wing record. It masks the harm she has the potential to enable once confirmed against women, LGBTQ people, all of those with Obamacare, and victims of voter suppression.
The deep pink color of Barrett’s might not be youthful, exactly, but there is some life to it—underscoring her relatively young age for a Supreme Court justice. Barrett’s 48, like Brett Kavanaugh’s 53, means a long tenure. This dress, with its saccharine design, serves as a reminder of that.
Barrett’s dress made a statement. So did the Democratic women lawmakers at the hearing. Senators Kamala Harris, Dianne Feinstein, Mazie K. Hirono, and Amy Klobuchar all wore bright blue blazers, the color of their party.
Hirono and Klobuchar put Ruth Bader Ginsburg enamel pins on their lapels. Kamala Harris, who Zoomed into the meeting, had a copy of the children’s book I Dissent on a table behind her. A cartoon of RBG wearing her judge’s robe and famous collar smirked back at the camera.
If the Democratic sartorial coup spoke loudly, Barrett’s dress had a quieter impact. In her opening remarks, Barrett spoke of her devotion to family. She peppered in sweet details about each of her seven children. She mentioned that her mentor in college, an English professor, gifted her a copy of Truman Capote’s collected works upon graduation. (Was the subtext that she is anti-LGBTQ?)
The dress labored overtime to quell certain fears. How could anyone who looks this safe be a threat?
Barrett showed up to the hearing outfitted as the caricature of a mother, or at least the right’s archetype of one. Outfits can do a lot to create a reputation or communicate values. Barrett’s gender and family are seen as an asset by the conservative men who loudly support her, and this placid dress is a perfect sartorial vehicle for her and them.
Thom Tillis, a senator from North Carolina, propped Barrett up as an avatar of women’s empowerment during his statement. He said she had signed two copies of the Constitution for his granddaughters, writing “Dream big” alongside her signature. He called Barrett an “inspiration to millions of young women in this country.”
Lindsey Graham said, “This is a vacancy that has occurred through the tragic loss of a great woman, and we’re going to fill that vacancy with another great woman,” referencing Barrett’s takeover of the late Justice Ruth Bader Ginsberg’s seat. As if women are interchangeable. As if one exceptionally remarkable woman’s seat can be so easily filled a little more than three weeks later.
But there is more to being a mother than looking like one. There is more to being a “great woman” than having close proximity to power. Barrett’s outfit projected capability and congeniality, but she wore it while doing the bidding of a president who possesses neither of those traits.
Amy Coney Barrett’s dress highlights the absurdity it was intended to lull. And it is, perhaps, a warning. Republicans are rushing this process, and she is happy to go along with them, dressed perfectly and properly.

PlayStation 5 uses liquid metal — here’s why that’s cool
Typically, systems use a paste-style TIM, but that isn’t good enough for the PS5. During his teardown of the PS5, Sony engineering vice president Yasuhiro Ootori explained why.
“The PS5’s SoC is a small die running at a very high clock rate,” Ootori said. “This led to a very high thermal density in the silicon die, which required us to significantly increase the performance of the thermal conductor, also known as the TIM, that sits between the SoC and the heatsink.”
That need led Sony to go with liquid metal.
“The PS5 utilizes liquid metal as the TIM to ensure long-term, stable, high-cooling performance,” said Ootori.
[...] Earlier this year, Sony patented an insulating sheet that basically acts as a corral for the liquid metal. This is likely key to dealing with the conductivity and shifting issues.
Sony also isn’t the only company doing this. Asus is shipping its first laptop with a liquid-metal TIM this year. And that likely speaks to advances in the durability of the alloy.
Italian teenage computer whiz beatified by Catholic Church
A 15-year-old Italian computer whiz who died of leukemia in 2006 moved a step closer to possible sainthood Saturday with his beatification in the town of Assisi, where he is buried.
Carlo Acutis is the youngest contemporary person to be beatified, a path taken by two Portuguese shepherd children living in the early 1900s who were proclaimed Catholic saints in 2017.
At the beatification ceremony in Basilica of Saint Francis of Assisi, a portrait of Acutis was slowly unveiled, revealing a smiling teen in a red polo shirt, his curly dark hair illuminated by a halo of light. Cardinal Agostino Vallini, the papal legate for the Assisi basilicas, kissed each of the boy’s mask-wearing parents, Andrea Acutis and Antonia Salzano, after reading the proclamation decreed by Pope Francis.
Already touted as the “patron saint of the internet,” Acutis created a website to catalog miracles and took care of websites for some local Catholic organizations. While still in elementary school, Acutis taught himself to code using a university computer science textbook, and then learned how to edit videos and create animation.
“Carlo used the internet in service of the Gospel, to reach as many people as possible,’’ the cardinal said during his homily, adding that the teen saw the web “as a place to use with responsibility, without becoming enslaved.”
Carlo Acutis: Millennial generation has a Blessed
Carlo's motto reflects the life of a normal teenager who strived to be the best version of himself, living the ordinary in an extraordinary way. He used his first savings to buy a sleeping bag for a homeless man he often saw on the way to Mass. He could have bought himself another video game for his game console collection. He loved to play video games. Instead, he chose to be generous. This was not an isolated instance. His funeral was packed with many of the city's poor residents that Carlo had helped, demonstrating that the generosity he had extended to the homeless man on his way to Mass had been offered to many other people as well.
[...] He was a "natural jokester" as his mother, Antonia Salzano, once commented in an interview. His classmates would burst out in laughter at his remarks, and so would the teachers. Since he realized it could annoy and disrupt others, he made an effort to change in that regard as well. Making life pleasant for those around him through little acts was a constant in his life. He did not like the cleaning staff picking up after him, even if they were paid for that. So he set the alarm clock a few minutes earlier to tidy up his room and make the bed. Raejsh, a Hindu who cleaned at Carlo's house, was impressed that someone "as handsome, young and rich” decided to live a simple life. “He captivated me with his deep faith, charity and purity,” he remarked. Through Carlo’s example, Raejsh decided to be baptized in the Catholic Church.
[...] Our new Blessed also enjoyed putting on his diving goggles and playing “fetch trash from the bottom of the sea”. When he took the dogs out for a walk, he always picked up whatever garbage he came across. It was his way of improving his corner of the world.
Headlines claim "Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer Kidnap Plot Busted By FBI". Virtually all stories include the claim that it was a "right wing extremist" group responsible.
The very first problem with the claims center on the FBI. The FBI has a history of entrapment-like "investigations", where simple minded fools without the means to accomplish their goals are offered said means by the FBI. The FBI invariably arrest some village idiots after said investigations, to make an example of them.

A cursory glance at the early stories shows that the fools plotting to kidnap Whitmer had little idea what they were even talking about. Their talk of "200 men" and the need to purchase explosives directly from an FBI informant already makes the story smell of fish.
But, the "white supremacist" and "right wing" nonsense is being laid low, regardless of the village idiot's capabilities.
It turns out Brandon Caserta, one of anarchists who was arrested for plotting to kidnap Whitmer, actually hates President Trump and is on video calling Trump a “tyrant.”
And now there is evidence a second “rightwing” militia member attended at least one Black Lives Matter protest and was sympathetic to George Floyd and BLM protesters.
So we have not one, but TWO Antifa/BLM protesters involved in this "right wing" plot? Interesting, to say the least!
It turns out Brandon Caserta, one of anarchists who was arrested for plotting to kidnap Whitmer, actually hates President Trump and is on video calling Trump a “tyrant.”
“Trump is not your friend dude,” Caserta said.
He says Trump is “a tyrant” and calls President Trump an “enemy.”
The media, with the FBI being complicit, is playing the American public for a bunch of fools here. "Anarchist" do not equate to "right wing" or to "white supremacy".
I can grant that self proclaimed anarchists may have ulterior motives that they keep hidden until they have destroyed the existing government. Given that possibility, how did everyone jump to the conclusion that these particular anarchists are either "right wing" or "white supremacist"? Wouldn't it be just as easy to surmise that these fools are socialists, left wing militants, and/or communist activists?
Maybe, just maybe, these self proclaimed anarchists are really and truly anarchists? Maybe they don't care about left or right, maybe they don't care about black or white. All they want to see is government come tumbling down?
As usual, the public is being played. Mainstream Media has it's agenda, it has it's narrative, and that's all you're going to see when you tune in to "News at 11:00".
And, the FBI. That clown outfit is working hard to shed any credibility it may have. In the last election, the FBI worked hard to protect the D candidate, right up until the last days, then Comey turned on his mistress. Now, the FBI seems to be on track again, protecting the D narrative, and attacking the R, just before the election.

Aight, screw election year crap. Let's talk about something that really matters this weekend. The shitty state of vocals in music these days.
Look, Simon the douche-pickle and company, I'm fucking sick to death of you tools telling the nation think perfect pitch and complete lack of vocal character are what we should want to listen to. Fuck your vanilla, cookie-cutter, soulless voice clones. You're making everything into nothing better than fucking muzak.
No, fuck that. Let's talk about vocal artists who aren't completely interchangeable instead. Motherfuckers who can't be replaced because they actually put what makes them special into their music, themselves. The folks who you can hear sing and instantly tell who they are.
Here's some to get us on the same page and get things rolling:
That's my shortlist, whadda you guys got?
Update: This discussion got me to searching around. Just found Coulter Wall. Sounds like Johnny cash had a child with a bottle of whiskey. You can thank me below.
I see two local stories from local sources and I'm sure there are more.
FBI says it thwarted plot to violently overthrow elected government and kidnap elected governor and hold a "trial" for treason. (gee, who sounds treasonous here?)
Plot involved reaching out to members of a Michigan militia (according to federal affidavit). (I'm sure it was a "well regulated" militia of crazy lunatics with guns who have to "take back our country and our rats!".)
"Several members talked about murdering 'tyrants' or 'taking' a sitting governor," an FBI agent wrote in the affidavit.
More than 12 people were arrested late Wednesday on state and federal charges.
“The group talked about creating a society that followed the U.S. Bill of Rights and where they could be self-sufficient,” the FBI agent wrote.
The FBI was already tracking the militia in March after a local police department learned members were trying to obtain addresses of local law-enforcement officers, the FBI agent wrote.
In late June, Fox posted on Facebook a video in which he complained about the state’s judicial system and COVID-19 restrictions on gyms operating in Michigan.
"We ain't going to let 'em burn our f---in' state down. I don't give a f--- if there's only 20 or 30 of us, dude, we'll go out there and use deadly force," said Fox during the surveillance operation, according to an audio recording quoted in the affidavit.
“The lockdown has been a lightning rod for anti-government extremists in this country, and Gov. Whitmer has been on the forefront of their targeting,”
(And the US has 4 % of the world population but 20 % of the covid deaths. Before some idiot AC says [citation needed]... Google for numbers "worldwide covid deaths" 1.06M and "us covid deaths" 212K. Advanced mathematical technique called "division". Similarly Google for world and us population, use similar "division" technique.)
According to other news source, 13 charged in plot.
In Covid-19 news, Trump says it must have been gold star families that infected him with Covid-19. Because viruses are selective in that they only infect bad people such as those "losers and suckers".
Fun fact: Some people don't like facts.
to
- Vice President Mike Pence overruling the CDC’s intention to extend a ban on cruise trips.
- The Trump administration diverting $US300 million in CDC funding to make ads.
- The CDC publishing a guideline discouraging people who had been exposed to the coronavirus but did not show symptoms from getting tested. The New York Times reported that the guideline had been written by White House officials and published despite scientists’ objections.
And, on top, old men are incredibly selfish
In just 100 years.
