Tom Price resigned. I told him he could resign, or be FIRED! Because I'm here to drain the swamp, and he's a big, big part of it. I'm not happy about the way he RIPPED OFF my taxpayers! I'm not happy, OK? He's a very good man, a fine man. But he's a big, big part of the swamp, which is unacceptable. Screw him. Screw him like a bitch.

Happy birthday @WHNSC!

My National Security Council, who I love, turned 70 years old today! Terrific age! Terrific guys! Love the advice, very important right now. Great advice about Rocket Man and #NoKo!

Boycott the NBA and NFL!

I’m very, very saddened by what’s been happening in the NBA and NFL. A few disloyal players -- Colin Kaepernick and Steph Curry are the worst -- have been disrespecting my Great American Flag (and Country). They refuse to stand for my national anthem. I'll tell you, if a player wants the privilege of making millions of dollars in the NFL or other leagues, he or she should not be allowed to disrespect our heritage that way. That’s a total disrespect of our heritage. That’s a total disrespect of everything that we stand for. Wouldn’t you love to see one of these NFL owners, when somebody disrespects my flag, to say, "Get that son of a bitch off the field right now. Out! He’s fired. He’s FIRED! Find something else to do!" You know, some owner is going to do that. He’s going to say, "That guy that disrespects the flag, he’s fired." And that owner, they don’t know it, but I'll tell you, they’ll be the second most popular person in this country. When people like yourselves turn on television and you see those people taking the knee when they are playing my great national anthem -- the only thing you could do better is, if you see it, even it's one player, leave the stadium. I guarantee things will stop. NFL should change policy! Roger Goodell of NFL put out a statement trying to justify the total disrespect certain players show to our country. Tell them to stand! Believe me, drugs are a very, very big factor in what you're watching on television at night. In the sports and the reality TV. Senator Strange (from Alabama) and I are unified by the same great American values. We're proud of our country. I consulted with my generals and military experts. General John Kelly (COS) totally agrees with my stance on the NFL and its players disrespecting FLAG, ANTHEM, COUNTRY. #FakeNews .@CNN said he opposes. Total lie!

There's been a tremendous backlash against the NFL. Many people booed the players who kneeled yesterday (which was a small percentage of total). These are fans who demand respect for my Flag! If NFL fans refuse to go to games until players stop disrespecting my Flag & Country, you will see change take place fast. Fire or suspend! NFL attendance and ratings are WAY DOWN. Boring games yes, but many stay away because they love our country. League should back U.S. The NFL ratings are down massively. Now the number 1 reason happens to be they like watching what’s happening with yours truly. They like what’s happening. You used to see these tackles and it was incredible to watch. Now tackle -- head-on-head tackle -- 15-yard penalty. Because you know today if you hit too hard: 15 yards! Throw him out of the game! They’re ruining the game! That’s what they want to do. They want to hit. They want to hit! These new, and very much softer, NFL rules are hurting the game. "Uh oh, got a little ding on the head? No, no, you can’t play for the rest of the season." We're going soft, just like the NFL, we're going soft. The issue of kneeling has nothing to do with race. It is about respect for my Country, Flag and National Anthem. NFL must respect this! The people who will suffer the most as a result of this softness and disloyalty are inner city players and fans. There is no compassion in tolerating this conduct. It's an attack on the poor and will never be accepted in a Trump administration, ever, ever.

Time to bring back the United States Football League and my New Jersey Generals, probably the best team in football, ever. With @DougFlutie and @HerschelWalker.

So proud of NASCAR and its supporters and fans. They won't put up with disrespecting our Country or my Flag - they said it loud and clear! #StandForMyAnthem

Browsed through my email this morning. I can't really remember when or why, but apparently, I've registered with something called academia.edu. Gave them a fake email, fake name, fake species - the works. Academia - you expect them to have some academics, right? Check this out:

Academia.edu

Dear Some Guy,

1,615 people recently read one of the papers that mentions the name "Some Guy".

A total of 819 papers on Academia mention your name.

________________________

Seriously - that is the exact text of the email. Some Guy, the "name" that I use on sites when I'm checking them out. And, apparently 819 academic papers have mentioned my personna, and 1,615 people have read at least one of those papers.

Clicking the link, I arrive at a page that states:

Mentions
818
818 papers mention the name "Some Guy" or "S. Guy"
1,615 people recently read one of them
The Mentions feature helps you find your name mentioned in papers, books, drafts, theses, and syllabi that Google Scholar can't find.

_____________________________

And, these fuckwits take themselves seriously? They hope to pass themselves off as some sub-species of academics?

Should I laugh, or should I cry?

I might be nice if I could remember why in hell I even visited their site to start with. Maybe I was researching something like 'The resurgence of troglodytes in academia'??

Big THANK YOU to China!

I was saddened to see how bad the ratings were on the Emmys -- the worst ever. The smallest audience ever. Because they had .@SeanSpicer and .@Stephen_Colbert. LOSERS!

Had a fabulous talk with my good friend, Prime Minister @Netanyahu in NYC yesterday. Just so you understand: I never mentioned the word or the name Israel, never mentioned, in that conversation. Believe me, I never mentioned the word Israel. pic.twitter.com/jwU4e8Yk8A

basic income thinkings

Rehash
My biggest objection to basic income in democracies (and indeed to any wealth redistribution scheme) is that it creates a potential feedback loop where voters vote via choice of politicians more goodies for themselves, destroying the future of their society for a modest gain today. After all, most such societies already have a pretty good thing going today and yet it's not enough for a good sized fraction of voters of those societies.

My crude idea here is that basic income should be a reward for participating in a healthy, growing economy, not merely taking from the rich. That is an unhealthy attitude. It should be higher, if everyone is doing better, including the wealthiest.

My thinking is along the lines of the trust that runs the Alaskan Pipeline. Most Alaskans get a share and the better run and more profitable the pipeline is, the better the payout, leading to incentive to run things well rather than run things for the short term.

I'm not yet prepared for well developed ideas about how basic income should operate, but I think it should be highly predictable in how it operates and using metrics that are difficult to game. For example, no sudden and unpredictable changes in the level of payouts from machinations by politicians. No feedback from inflation (say by basic income being merely the printing of money combined with automatic inflation adjustment mechanisms, combining to create runaway inflation of the system).

Almost strictly pay-as-you-go or "revenue neutral" seems a good idea since money sitting around becomes a political target.

So here's a couple of ideas to put into the ring (oriented around the US where I live):

Basic income is all surplus federal tax revenue acquired by the US above its expenditures. Would generate incentives to run a balanced budget one way or another and encourage reduction of other expenditures.

and

Basic income is set in combination with a moderately progressive income tax at a level where a set percentage of the populace gains money. For example, it could be set so that the median income breaks even, thus half the population gains and half loses income. Incentives here would be to increase median income relative to everything else since that would be the basis for the payouts.

Keyesians might want to tool things so that basic income drops in good times and increases in bad times.

My house is OK!

Folks, I know you've all been worried about #Irma and especially about my estate on St. Martin, Le Château des Palmiers. Well, you have nothing to worry about, because it's A-OK! And it's available starting at only $6000 per night. I'm also looking for a buyer. I've listed it at just $16.9 million! Believe me, that represents a very, very substantial discount. Formerly $28 million. Comes with 5 acres surrounded by an 8-foot wall. Also, here's a big hand for President Macron for visiting St. Martin. He loves to shake my hand. And 95% of St. Martin was leveled. But my house is OK. No problem there. Fabulous! And a big hand to the folks in my Virgin Islands, Puerto Rico, Georgia, and South Carolina. All my people in the path of #Irma. Good going, you made it!
