The Digital Gulag: Why Team Tyranny Won’t Need Door-Kickers to Enforce the Coming Gun Bans

There is currently a lot of attention being paid to new Democrat-proposed gun control laws, particularly House Bill 127, which would require national registration and licensing of all firearms, would ban broad categories of semi-automatic weapons, ban most ammunition magazines, and so on. One of the most frequent replies to these proposed laws is that there are not enough local or federal SWAT Team door-kickers to go house to house on gun confiscation raids, and if they tried, they would 1. soon run out of door-kickers and 2. instigate Civil War Two.
But in the modern digital era, I believe that Team Tyranny won’t have to do much door-to-door gun confiscation. I think that a few show-piece gun confiscation raids using overwhelming force at 4AM (that are designed for network TV audiences) will be sufficient. Instead, they’ll just send citizens a notice by text, email and registered snail-mail that they already know what newly-illegal guns they possess. This list will be based on AI programs scraping and data-mining your social media history, credit card purchases, and all past FFL sales records, which surely will be collected as part of the new law.
All of this information will be knitted together much the way that the IRS does business. I borrowed this paradigm from “Old Curmudgeon” on a Free Republic thread:
“Have you noticed how the IRS manages to enforce the tax laws? Every taxable transaction is documented by multiple parties so that one party’s failure to report will be revealed by the another party’s paperwork. Then the person who violated the tax law is made an example of, a horrible example, causing reasonable people to be very afraid of the IRS. They will use a similar method to end gun ownership.”And don’t think for a minute that they won’t get all the gun sales records, once they pass their “Emergency Measures To Prevent Domestic Terrorism Act.”
So how will they plan to separate you from your now-illegal guns?
Many people will refuse to do so. A week later, they will be totally disappeared from social media. Digitally disappeared. This makes it hard to complain about your treatment.
If you send an email about your situation to your local news station, they will automatically get a warning email just ahead of yours, or your email will be contained inside of a red flashing “warning box.” This is how the CCP keeps the comrades in line in Communist China. ChiCom programmers are already working with silicon valley to get Team Tyranny, both government and private sector, up to speed on these protocols.
You’ll get more official warnings to turn in the newly illegal guns that they know you have. Serial numbers won’t matter much, they’ll have your own prior social media “confessions,” along with those proud pictures you posted at the range, along with your credit card history, etc. You bought ten P-Mags, a chest rig, a “drop-in” trigger and a new buffer spring? They know you have an AR. And you can assume that the sales records of FFL dealers will all be collected under the new “emergency” gun control law.
You still won’t comply? You’re doxed at work. Your company “can’t take the risk” of employing you after they get secret back-channel warnings from the DHS. You and your wife the school teacher or nurse will be unemployed. How are you going to pay your mortgage? Your kids’ tuition bill? Your car payment? Again, as a DHS-suspected “domestic terror threat” you can’t get the local news to touch the story.
Next step: your ATM card is frozen. Then your credit cards. Then your bank drops you. Still a hard case? Your electricity arrives intermittently. Then it stops altogether. Then your water is cut off. The local news will still not touch your story, since they have been warned about the dangerous domestic terror threat from people like you.
Team Tyranny won’t need to conduct many door-to-door gun raids. They’ll just lock you inside a digital gulag in your own house.
And if you freak out in anger and rage and try to get revenge, who will you go after? Washington DC is now behind a razor-wire-topped wall guarded by thousands of troops, so forget that. Your local police chief? Your mayor? Who do you go after? If you do target them, then you are a domestic terrorist, and they’ll kill you, or at least arrest you and send you to a real prison. (The local gun-collection points might become a sporadic random target, but they will be very well guarded by SWAT counter-snipers etc.)
These are just some thoughts of mine about how the new gun bans might be rolled out and enforced. Do I know for a fact that this is how Team Tyranny will enforce an American gun ban? No. But it’s worth considering, at least more than just saying “they don’t have enough door kickers!”
They won’t need many door kickers. The Digital Gulag might be enough.

Connecticut, completely dominated by Democrats, is ending its COVID-19 lockdown.
After Joe Biden described Texas’s decision to end its mask mandate and COVID-19 lockdown restrictions as “neanderthal thinking,” Connecticut becomes the first Democrat-dominated state to, at least partially follow suit. As of March 19, Connecticut will end all COVID-19 restrictions on restaurants, retail establishments, libraries, churches, and other public areas. However, the repeal of the state’s COVID-19 restrictions does not appear to include a repeal of the state’s mask mandate.
Beginning Friday, March 19, “All capacity limits will be elininated for the following businesses, while face coverings, social distancing, and other cleaning and disinfecting protocols will continue to be required: Restauraunts, retail, libraries, personal services, indoor recreation, gyms/fitness centers, museums, acquariums, and zoos, offices, houses of worship”
Additionally, “all sports will be allowed to practice and compete, and all sports tournaments will be allowed, subject to Department of Public Health guidance” and “Connecticut’s travel advisory will be modified from a requirement to recommended guidance.”
Due to New York’s often crushing influence over politics in the state, many experts wonder if Cuomo will be forced to follow after the revelation that he hid the total number of nursing home COVID-19 deaths from the public and from the federal government.
While the move was warmly greeted by many conservatives and proponents of personal liberty, many Americans were stunned to see the Democrat-dominated state allow Americans such a degree of freedom.

“I use the example of a daughter coming in from out of town who is doubly vaccinated, and a husband and wife doubly vaccinated, and maybe a next-door neighbor, who you know are doubly vaccinated,” Fauci said.

“While any president would presumably consult with advisors before ordering a nuclear attack, there is no requirement to do so,” the letter continues. “The military is obligated to carry out the order if they assess it is legal under the laws of war. Under the current posture of U.S. nuclear forces, that attack would happen in minutes.”
The House Democrats are proposing that they make launching the nuclear missiles conditional on approval from the vice president and House speaker, “neither of whom can be removed by the president if they disagree — to concur with a launch order.”

In May 2014, the PUC sought changes that would require energy companies to identify and address all potential failure points, including any effects of "weather design limits."
Luminant argued against the proposal.
In comments to the commission, the company said the requirement was unnecessary and "may or may not identify the 'weak links' in protections against extreme temperatures."
"Each weather event [is] dynamic," company representatives told regulators. "Any engineering analysis that attempted to identify a specific weather design limit would be rendered meaningless."
By the end of the process, the PUC agreed to soften the proposed changes. Instead of identifying all possible failure points in their equipment, power companies would need only to address any that were previously known.
"Too often, power companies get exactly what they want out of the PUC," said Tim Morstad, associate director of AARP Texas. "Even well-intentioned PUC staff are outgunned by armies of power company lawyers and their experts. The sad truth is that if power companies object to something, in this case simply providing information about the durability of certain equipment, they are extremely likely to get what they want."
Luminant representatives declined to answer questions about the company's opposition to the weatherization proposal. PUC officials also declined to comment.
"This business benefited significantly from increased basis and storage spreads during the polar vortex earlier this year," Joe McGoldrick, an executive with Houston-based CenterPoint Energy, said in a November 2014 earnings call. "To the extent that we get another polar vortex or whatever, absolutely, we'll be opportunistic and take advantage of those conditions."
The company did not respond to requests for comment.
Texas has relied on the principle that higher prices will spur greater power generation when the state needs it most, a structure that helps explain the persistence of blackouts, said Ed Hirs, a University of Houston energy expert.
In extreme weather events like last week's freeze, prices per megawatt jumped from an average of around $35 to ERCOT's maximum of $9,000.
Hirs said it's in the power generators' interest to "push ERCOT into a tight situation where price goes up dramatically."
"They are giving generators incentive to withdraw service," he added. "How else do you get the price to go up?"
Generating electricity in arctic conditions is obviously not an insoluble problem. Cities, even entire countries, keep the lights on year round, despite being located near the arctic. Maybe the Texas Public Utility Commission should hire some engineers from those northern cities to investigate what the electric companies are doing wrong.
The solutions here are less about connecting to a nationwide grid, than about rooting out corruption.

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez has joined growing calls for an investigation into New York governor Andrew Cuomo’s handling of nursing homes during the coronavirus pandemic.
“I … stand with our local officials calling for a full investigation of the Cuomo administration’s handling of nursing homes during Covid-19,” the high-profile progressive congresswoman, who represents a New York City district, said in a statement on Friday.
Last week, it was revealed that a Cuomo aide told New York legislators the true picture of nursing home deaths wasn’t given last year, for fear it would be used against the governor during an investigation launched by Donald Trump’s justice department.
Cuomo, who has already published a book about his handling of the crisis, has dismissed claims of wrongdoing. On Friday, he said information was not produced fast enough, which created “a void. And conspiracy theories and politics and rumors fill that void and you can’t allow inaccurate information to go unanswered.”
The governor is under increasing pressure and Ocasio-Cortez’s intervention adds drama to a combustible mix.
As a former federal housing secretary and son of former governor Mario Cuomo, the governor is a pillar of the Democratic centrist establishment. Meanwhile, Ocasio-Cortez has rapidly risen to become a prominent voice on the progressive wing of the party.
In her statement, she said: “Thousands of vulnerable New Yorkers lost their lives in nursing homes throughout the pandemic. Their loved ones and the public deserve answers and transparency from their elected leadership, and the secretary to the governor’s remarks warrant a full investigation.”
In March, at the outset of the pandemic, New York reeled from a surge in cases. While Cuomo rose to worldwide prominence as the face of efforts to tackle the problem, an administration directive said nursing homes should not deny admission or readmission to a patient because they had Covid-19.
That policy was rescinded two months later. Keeping the true number of nursing home residents who died hidden would theoretically deflect any blame for a bad policy choice. Cuomo has blamed staff entering nursing homes for spreading the virus to the vulnerable population, not patients brought in with Covid-19. He has said it would be discriminatory not to let those patients into nursing homes.

The scandal has spread to CNN, a network which has a major presence in New York and for which Cuomo’s younger brother, Chris Cuomo, is a primetime host.
Interviews between the two brothers went viral last spring but the network has now reinstated a prohibition on Chris Cuomo interviewing or covering his brother.
The last time the governor appeared on his brother’s show, in June, Chris Cuomo asked: “Nursing homes. People died there. They didn’t have to. It was mismanaged. And the operators have been given immunity. What do you have to say about that?”
Andrew Cuomo replied that some of what his brother said was incorrect, adding: “But that’s OK. It’s your show. You say whatever you want to say.”

There are a lot of women in the crowds, before, during, and after the "storming" of the Capitol. First coup in history with bunches of women in the "front lines"?
I watch for weapons. I'm just not seeing them. One dude walking up a set of stairs reaches to his hip, I know he's adjusting a holster, but it's not a gun. Another shot has a rifle being brandished - I scroll back, and it's not a rifle at all, just a selfie stick. Over and over, I spot what looks like a weapon, but nope - no weapons.
The building was NOT SECURED against "invaders". There are a lot of overhead doors, presumably installed for crowd control, which are left open. In one video, police are seen retreating from the crowd, a half-hearted attempt is made to lower a pair of doors, the cops apparently say "fuck it" and abandon the effort. The attempt is a half hour late, or more.

Vandals have stepped up attacks on political officials' homes this year as the country descends into chaos. Recently, Mitch McConnell and Nancy Pelosi had their homes spray-painted and damaged. Now non-political figures are being targeted.
The suburban Philadelphia home of Michael van der Veen, one of former President Trump's defense attorneys, was vandalized on Friday night, according to The Hill.
Van der Veen spoke to the reporters Saturday after the Senate acquitted Trump of incitement with a final vote of 57-43, with seven Republicans breaking ranks to vote with the Democrats. He told a press pool about the damage his home sustained.
"My home was attacked. I'd rather not go into it because it would encourage other people to do it more, but you know, I've had nearly 100 death threats," he told a press pool.
Van der Veen said he's far from a "controversial guy" and is not a political figure.
"My home was attacked last night - windows broken, spray paint, really bad words spray-painted everywhere. And the thing is, you guys don't know me, but you know I'm not a controversial guy. I'm not politically minded so to speak," he said.
"I'm a trial lawyer and I represent people's interests in court. That's what I do. I love doing it. And I'm disappointed that that is the result of just me doing my job," van der Veen added.

GOP lawmakers call for Pelosi to be fined over new screenings
Juliegrace Brufke 9 hrs agoA group of Republicans is calling for Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) to be fined after they say she failed to abide by newly implemented rules requiring members to go through metal detectors before entering the House chamber.
Republicans on the House Administration Committee sent a letter to Acting Sergeant-at-Arms Timothy Blodgett on Friday requesting the fine, arguing Pelosi should have to abide by the new rule that she pushed to implement.
"Yesterday, at approximately 9:59 am, multiple members observed the Speaker of the House entering the House Chamber without completing security screening," the Republicans wrote on Friday.
"What was observed was a clear violation of House Resolution 73 and you are required by House Rules to impose this fine. Please inform us once the fine has been assessed," they added. "We look forward to a prompt response to this inquiry."
Blodgett responded by telling the members that he has not received a complaint from the Capitol Police about a violation by Pelosi.
"House Sergeant at Arms imposes the fine after receiving an unusual occurrence report from the United States Capitol Police (USCP). An unusual incident report from the Capitol Police is appended to the document sent to the Member providing notice of the fine," he wrote.
"Only the USCP can determine whether an individual has failed to complete security screening as only the USCP has sufficient training to determine compliance with USCP screening procedures. I have directed that the USCP produce and provide unusual incident reports on any individual who fails to complete security screening without exception. I have not received any unusual incident report from the USCP concerning the Speaker of the House."
ROFLMAO, only the USCP can determine whether Nancy follows her own rules? Hogwash. The Swamp is filling nicely!
