I refer to the following story submitted by "Danny B":

I would hesitate to submit such stories because of the sheer number of hyperlinks. If the story was submitted by manually editing each of the hyperlinks, my hats off to him.

If the hyperlinks were copied automatically, I would like to learn to do this too, especially, if the submission used a short cut (or tool) to copy all links from the original web page. Any help in this regard would be highly appreciated and would encourage me to submit more stories ...

Washington State Supreme Court Strikes Down Drug Law

Spokane police halt arrests for simple possession of drugs following Washington State Supreme Court ruling

The Spokane police department can no longer make arrests for simple possession of drugs after a bombshell ruling this week from the Washington State Supreme Court that effectively decriminalized possession of small amounts of controlled substances.

The majority ruling decided that Washington's existing controlled substance possession law was unconstitutional, because it does not require prosecution to prove that defendants were aware they possessed the drugs.

In other words, under the law, if someone borrowed a backpack from a friend which unbeknownst to them had heroin in it, they could still be charged with felony possession. The court ruled such a charge would violate due process, and invalidated the law.

That means there is currently no law on the books in Washington that makes possessing drugs for personal use a crime.

Alarm grows over Supreme Court's overturning of drug possession law

A legislative fix is in the works to restore Washington state's drug possession law, part of which was struck down the by the state Supreme Court Thursday.

It comes after a growing number of public officials are sounding the alarm over the ruling that simple drug possession can no longer be used as the basis for an arrest in the state because it violates the due process clauses contained in the state and U.S. Constitutions.

State Sen. Steve Hobbs is one of two Democratic senators who have introduced a bill which is a simple one-word fix.

That word is "knowingly," which adds intent to possess an illegal drug. A majority of justices believed that is lacking in the existing law.

"Right now, you can have controlled substances and not get arrested. It's kind of crazy" Hobbs told KOMO News Friday. "I know several states have gone through this very problem before and now it's our turn, and we have to fix it right away."

Yeah, I shit all over Walker. Deservedly so. But lest you think I'm always a grouchy old bastard, here's another review.

Normally I'm not much of a happy camper about fan service. Normally it's half-assed at best. Now Coming to America 2 is absolutely fan service but it's fan service by the funniest motherfucker to ever walk the planet at the top of his game. And a lot of other really funny motherfuckers. I can honestly say it joins Empire and Godfather 2 as a sequel that's without question better than the first. I laughed my entire ass off. I now have no ass. And it was worth it.

Make sure and stick around through the credits though. The whiskers outtake still has me laughing and it's like 20 minutes after the end of the credits.

Before I start, I was never a Walker, Texas Ranger fan. I prefer my Chuck mowing down hordes of folks with a machine gun. I have watched a few episodes though, maybe even half a dozen.

So, I finally broke down and fired up the first episode of the new Walker series starring Jared Padalecki. I like cowboys, cop shows, and Supernatural even if it was the whiny little bitch brother they tapped for the reboot.

Honest to fuck, they didn't even make it fifteen minutes before they had Texas cowboys and cops casually discussing race, sexuality, and gender; signaling every virtue they could find to signal. That shit just don't happen. Ever. Not even in Austin.

On top of that, everyone was way, way too groomed and pressed. Everyone's hair was perfect and all the "week of stubble" beards were meticulously trimmed. Plus, seeing a millionaire with shit on his boots and dirt on his clothes is relatively common there but I've never seen a Texan working outdoors whose clothes looked like they'd just come from a very conscientious dry cleaner.

They would have been more accurate hiring an all midget cast, painting them orange with green hair, and having them sing lines written by Texans.

This was just too far from anything even approaching potential reality. There's only so much disbelief a feller can suspend. And that's coming from an avid comic book and sci-fi fan.

Oh well, saves me watching the reboot just like I didn't watch the original.

96-core Zen 4, and more

Several leakz.

Zen 4 rumor bulldozer smashes Zen 3 with alleged +25% IPC uplift, +40% total gains, and potential delivery of 5 GHz on all cores while AMD's Zen 5 will be even more spectacular

Chips and Cheese makes reference to a source informing the site that an engineering sample of a Zen 4-based EPYC Genoa server chip made light work of a Zen 3-based EPYC Milan counterpart by being 29% faster, and that’s with the same clock rates and identical core configuration. A whopping 40% overall performance gain from Zen 3 to Zen 4 is also mentioned as is the possibility of all-core clocks hitting 5 GHz.

Getting from a 25% IPC increase to 40% overall performance gain does not necessarily mean a 12% boost in clock speeds.

Now I said I had Zen 5 info, unfortunately this comes from a different, less-proven source than my Zen 4 info, however they have said that the jump [to Zen 5 from 4] from will be about as much as Piledriver to Zen 1 design goal, which if you recall to earlier in this article was 40%. I was told from a 3rd source that Zen 5’s original design goal was 2.5 to 3 times the IPC of Zen 1 which roughly lines up with the perspective of a “Piledriver to Zen 1”-like jump.

AMD EPYC Genoa leak details astonishing leap over Milan for the Zen 4 5nm server CPU series: Up to 96 cores, 192 threads, and 12-channel DDR5 memory support

96-cores (192 threads)
12-channel DDR5-5200
128 PCIe 5.0 lanes (160 for 2P)
320W TDP (cTDP 400W) ?
SP5 (LGA-6096) socket

Genoa everyone ?

There is some apprehension about the use of 8-core chiplets again, but it is what it is. AMD could stop at 16 cores again for the top Ryzen desktop CPU, but Mark Papermaster already came out once or twice and said that we should expect more cores. So up to 24 cores using 3 chiplets seems likely. I think a 24-core halo product could be the only one to actually use 3 core chiplets, i.e. the next highest core count would be 16, with no 6+6+6 18-core.

More memory channels? That remains to be seen. How many DDR5 DIMMs per channel, anyway?

Zen 4 AMD EPYC Genoa to support AVX3-512 and BFLOAT16 in early blow against Intel Xeon Sapphire Rapids

According to ChipHell (via tipster HXL), EPYC Genoa will support AVX3-512, BFLOAT16, and other instruction set architectures (ISAs). This is a big deal if it’s accurate, as the AVX-512 instruction set is normally associated with Intel chips (and to a lesser extent, Centaur).

[...] Zen 4 will also support 57-bit virtual addresses and 52-bit physical addressing, and interestingly it will apparently come with performance and perf/watt improvements made possible by the “design and manufacturing”.

[...] Last but not least, a separate source has stated that the package size for EPYC Genoa is 72 mm x 75.4 mm, which means it is almost square and will have plenty of room for additional core-containing chiplets. The current package size for Zen 2 AMD EPYC processors (“Rome”) is 58.5 mm x 75.4 mm, hence their rectangular appearance.

Perf/watt improvements via "design and manufacturing" is hopefully a reference to the long-rumored L4 cache stacked on top of the I/O die.

Zen 4 ("Raphael") CPUs may come with an RDNA 2 graphics chiplet.

There may be a Zen 3+ ("Warhol") refresh later this year, possibly on the AM5 socket with DDR5 memory, with Zen 4's launch pushed later into 2022.

Rooster fitted with blade for cockfight kills its owner in India

A rooster fitted with a knife for an illegal cockfight in southern India has killed its owner, sparking a manhunt for the organisers of the event, police said.

The bird had a knife attached to its leg ready to take on an opponent when it inflicted serious injuries to the man’s groin as it tried to escape, officers said. The man died from loss of blood before he could reach a hospital in the Karimnagar district of Telangana state earlier this week, local police officer B Jeevan told AFP.

The man was among 16 people organising the cockfight in the village of Lothunur when the freak accident took place, Jeevan said. The rooster was briefly held at the local police station before it was sent to a poultry farm.

Is The Nvidia CMP Series Anti-Consumerist? Intentions of The Series Looks To Be To Kill Second-Hand Resale Market

Basically expanding on what I already said. Every mining card with no display capability sold is one less GPU for the used market later. Cheap GeForce 10-series (Pascal) from a previous mining boom kneecapped the 20-series (Turing). Weak raytracing capability was used to justify Turing's price hikes, but it wasn't enough apparently.

NVIDIA’s CMP Crypto Mining GPUs Detailed – 90HX Based on Ampere GA102 While 50HX, 40HX & 30HX Based on Turing GPUs

90HX is based on the RTX 3080, the rest are Turing.

Nvidia is bringing back old RTX 2060 and GTX 1050 Ti GPUs to deal with global chip shortage

Nvidia is/was resupplying some amount of Turing and Pascal GPUs.

Entire Bay Area school board resigns after making disparaging comments about parents without realizing meeting was being broadcast

Beede defended herself against a parent who chided her on social media for going to a party during the coronavirus pandemic after declaring it wasn’t safe to return to school.

“I wasn’t doing anything bad — I honestly don’t care about that part — but are we alone?” she asked the other trustees. “Bitch, ..If you call me out, I’m going to fuck you up.”

“Sorry, that’s just me,” Beede added.

After some laughter, Brizendine chimed in to commiserate with others about the growing criticism they’ve faced over closed schools, suggesting parents really want schools to reopen so they get their babysitters back.

Masadas suggested parents wanted their free time for other reasons.

“My brother had a delivery service for medical marijuana. The high clientele were the parents with their kids at school. When you have your kids at home, no more (inaudible),” Masadas said, clasping his hands on his forehead as others chuckled in the background.

"You guys remember how TMB said us Democrats were way more racist? Well, he was absolutely right." -- Joe Biden

Okay, what he actually said was...

A lot of people don't know how to register. Not everybody in the community, in the Hispanic and African American community, particularly in rural areas that are distant and/or inner city districts know how to use, know how to get online to determine how to get in line for that COVID vaccination at the Walgreens or at the particular store.

Yes. He actually just said brown people are too stupid to use the interwebs. I fucking told you so. I was all like "Democrats really do think they are fundamentally superior to members of minorities, so it's their duty to help the poor, stupid fuckers." And you lot were all like "You're crazy, that's not what we think! You're a racist!" And then good ole Joe comes right the fuck out and says it plain as day.

Thanks, Joe. I owe you a beer if you're ever handy where I can buy you one.
