Worst Pence bashing since Trump:
“Trump thinks Pence is great,” Bannon told me. But, according to a longtime associate, Trump also likes to “let Pence know who’s boss.” A staff member from Trump’s campaign recalls him mocking Pence’s religiosity. He said that, when people met with Trump after stopping by Pence’s office, Trump would ask them, “Did Mike make you pray?” Two sources also recalled Trump needling Pence about his views on abortion and homosexuality. During a meeting with a legal scholar, Trump belittled Pence’s determination to overturn Roe v. Wade. The legal scholar had said that, if the Supreme Court did so, many states would likely legalize abortion on their own. “You see?” Trump asked Pence. “You’ve wasted all this time and energy on it, and it’s not going to end abortion anyway.” When the conversation turned to gay rights, Trump motioned toward Pence and joked, “Don’t ask that guy—he wants to hang them all!”
Isn't that what the government types keep saying?
So why is it that the head of that self-same government doesn't play by those rules? Does he think the law doesn't apply to him?
In my mind, those who are privileged to represent us should be *more* forthcoming and avoid even the hint of any conflicts of interest, illegality or lack of transparency.
Why then does our current administration fear the Mueller investigation? Let's get to the truth and let the chips fall where they may.
Which is why it seems odd that our 'fearless' leader is acting like a frightened animal:
A lawyer for President Trump called on the Justice Department on Saturday to end the special counsel investigation into ties between Russia and the Trump campaign, shifting abruptly to a more adversarial stance as the inquiry appeared to be intensifying.
[...]
Mr. Dowd said at first that he was speaking on behalf of the president but later backed off that assertion. He did not elaborate on why he was calling for the end of the investigation, saying only: “Just end it on the merits in light of recent revelations.”People close to the president were skeptical that Mr. Dowd was acting on his own. Mr. Trump has a history of using advisers to publicly test a message, giving him some distance from it. And Mr. Dowd’s comments came at a time when members of Mr. Trump’s legal team are jockeying to stay in his favor.
Hours later, the president echoed Mr. Dowd’s accusations of corruption in the theoretical “deep state” that Mr. Trump has long cast as a boogeyman working to undermine him.
”There was tremendous leaking, lying and corruption at the highest levels of the FBI, Justice & State,” he wrote on Twitter.
In the end, the truth will out. Let's hear it. Whether it's that there was no collusion with the Russians or if there was. That's actually less important than making sure we have the facts.
Short notice here. I call upon all Soylentils to submit Fine Articles to SoylentNews, but in this particular instance, any articles on the extremely embarrassing incident in the trailer park in Indiana involving White supremacist Matthew Heimback, founder of the Traditionalist Workers Party. Yours truly has submitted an entire shit-load of submissions, but for some reason they get rejected. I can only surmise that this is embarrassment by some editors who have alt-right leanings, or live in trailer parks, or have feelings for the old "Mother-in-Law".
But that is neither here, nor there. Soylentils are against censorship. Hell, we let Eth and jmorris, and Runaway post their crap, so why no report on the latest follies of the alt-right? No interest? Oh, seriously, who is not interested about a guy who lists his profession as "white nationalist", carries on an affair with the wife of his webmaster, who is also his father-in-law, and then assaults said father-in-law, and the daughter of the father-in-law, who would the the "wife" in question. Oedipus had it much easier than Matthew.
So submit away! Ten times a day, or an hour! Keep that queue full of submissions! Make the editors work!

UPDATE! Wow, subs barely last half an hour now! Here are some more that have been, um, "declined".
Prominent US neo-Nazi arrested on domestic violence charge
And a totally unrelated, but very informative and interesting article on the source of alt-right anti-semitism.
Finally, another on the Israeli alt-right movement.
Just not of interest to Soylentils, huh? That's what they want you to think! (Not saying that there is an alt-right cabal controlling SoylentNews, but there just might be an alt-right cabal controlling SoylentNews.)

We're sorry, your submission "Looking Under the Alt-Right Rock" was declined for the following reason:
We are not interested in the sexual habits of this individual.--JRThe editors felt it inappropriate for them to correct the issue themselves. Please feel free to correct the issue yourself and resubmit.
Such an interesting submission, Looking Under the Alt-Right, alright. Somehow I have the Idea that even if I fix it, and resubmit, it will still get rejected. But you know, despite Rhinos and K-pop, it is not about the sex.
Oh! The main thing is that janorinok is back! So nice to be denied by my favorite ed, who has safely returned from the jaws of death! Thank you, JR!

Just in case we were wondering if arming teachers is a good idea:
As thousands of students walked out of their schools on Wednesday to pressure Congress to approve gun control legislation, three other students were healing from wounds inflicted when a teacher’s firearm accidentally discharged in a California classroom.
The teacher, Dennis Alexander, who is also a city councilman in Seaside, Calif., was showing the students a gun on Tuesday during his advanced public safety class at Seaside High School when the gun accidentally went off, Marci McFadden, a spokeswoman for the Monterey Peninsula Unified School District, said in a phone interview on Wednesday.
Across the country, another school was also investigating a weapon that discharged accidentally this week. The Alexandria Police Department in Virginia said that a school resource officer accidentally fired his gun inside his office at George Washington Middle School on Tuesday morning. Nobody was hurt, the police said.

Rex Tillerson has been fired as Secretary of State; CIA director Mike Pompeo has been nominated to replace him. Donald Trump’s nominee to replace Pompeo at the CIA is Gina Haspel, who had been the agency’s deputy director.
In 2002, Haspel was present, in a supervising role, at a “black site” in Thailand where an individual named Abu Zubaydah—believed to be a top al-Qaida official—was tortured. Zubaydah was waterboarded, slammed against a wall, and confined in a “coffin-like” box. As ProPublica reported in 2017, though, “CIA analysts were wrong when they had identified Zubaydah as the number three or four in al-Qaida after Osama bin Laden. The waterboarding failed to elicit valuable intelligence not because he was holding back, but because he was not a member of al-Qaida, and had no knowledge of any plots against the United States.”
He remains imprisoned at Guantánamo Bay and, as the New Yorker’s Dexter Filkins has noted, lost his left eye at some point after being captured under circumstances that remain unclear.
When questions began to swirl about the Bush administration’s use of the “black sites,” and program of “enhanced interrogation,” [Haspel] began pushing to have the tapes destroyed. She accomplished her mission years later when she rose to a senior position at CIA headquarters and drafted an order to destroy the evidence, which was still locked in a CIA safe at the American embassy in Thailand. Her boss, the head of the agency’s counterterrorism center, signed the order to feed the 92 tapes into a giant shredder.
Black Panther has a 6.8 on Douban, described as the Chinese IMDB, compared to 97% on RottenTomatoes and a 7.8 on IMDB.
“A torture for the eyes”: Chinese moviegoers think Black Panther is just too black
Some moviegoers disliked Black Panther because they felt Marvel was trying too hard to be politically correct (link in Chinese). While many reviewers on Douban stopped short of leaving overtly racist comments about the film, many discussed their discomfort of being surrounded by so much blackness.
“Maybe the Chinese are still not used to a film full of black people,” wrote one reviewer on Douban (link in Chinese). The commenter said he had to pinch himself more than 10 times to stay awake during the movie because “Black Panther is black, all the major characters are black, a lot of scenes are black, the car-chasing scene is black—the blackness has really made me drowsy.”
Another reviewer who came into the theater late made a similar observation: “When I entered the theater, a bunch of black people was fighting in the night… I’ve never been in a theater so dark that I couldn’t find my seat.”
Someone else said the experience was worse in 3D (link in Chinese): “The film is filled with black actors and actresses. Also, because the film’s colors are a bit dark, it’s nearly a torture for the eyes to watch the film’s 3D version in the theater.”
The movie made $63 million on its opening weekend in China, which should put it around #30, a couple spots behind Iron Man 3, which had awkward content shoehorned into its Chinese version.
