The CDC never reported the results of survey questions involving defensive gun use. This was an unusually large and well-done survey. The raw data is available however, just recently noticed and obtained by the public. It seems clear why the results of this Clinton-era survey were never published: Defensive gun use is about 3x that of crimes with criminals having guns.
