Trump to Hold Second Summit With Kim Jong Un in February, U.S. Says

U.S. President Donald Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un will meet near the end of February for a second summit, despite evidence North Korea is advancing its nuclear weapons program.

The White House announced the summit and timing after Trump met Friday with Kim Yong Chol, a top aide to the North Korean leader and a former spy chief.

Trump's decision to go ahead with another in-person meeting -- further elevating Kim's global profile -- underscores the president's confidence that his personal involvement and negotiating skills can change the behavior of recalcitrant regimes in ways that traditional leverage and diplomacy, past U.S. leaders and his own emissaries could not.

Trump commented Tuesday on Twitter after the South Korean government announced that North Korea has agreed to halt tests of nuclear weapons and missiles if it holds talks with the U.S. on denuclearization. South Korea and North Korea have also agreed to hold summit talks in late April.

Trump tweeted: "Possible progress being made in talks with North Korea. For the first time in many years, a serious effort is being made by all parties concerned. The World is watching and waiting! May be false hope, but the U.S. is ready to go hard in either direction!"

The Associated Press has some additional information:

While the offer of talks could ease tensions, the adversaries will still have to overcome deep mutual suspicion. The U.S. has consistently demanded North Korea give up its nukes, which the reclusive socialist state had previously insisted was off the table until Washington abandoned its "hostile policy" toward it. At a minimum, the Americans wanted a halt in nuclear and missile testing for talks to begin.

"Maybe this is a breakthrough. I seriously doubt it," Dan Coats, the director of national intelligence, told a Senate hearing Tuesday. He said his doubts are grounded in what he called failed efforts by previous U.S. administrations to negotiate with North Korea over its nuclear program.

Coats said Kim is "very calculating" and views his nuclear capabilities as "essential to his well-being as well as the well-being of his nation."

What do we have to lose from trying? If we fail we get the same result as we would have from not trying, so we might as well give it a shot. Trump wants to end the Korean war for one of two reasons - either so he can go down in the history books as the one that resolved North Korea, or so that he can open the "Kim and Moon Peace and Prosperity Trump International Hotel" in Pyongyang. Both of those are a small price to pay for peace. If we get peace in exchange for federal money buying Trump a hotel in every country in the world, thats a damn good deal. Typically our politicans line their pockets with war, like the Bidens and their connections to Ukrainian oil companies or the Bushs and Clintons and Iraqi oil companies. Trump on the other hand has his investments in real estate, and real estate doesn't really profit from war. Trump's own greed is the best hope this country has had since Nixon for peace.

A friend who is only your friend because you let him borrow your car, raid your fridge, and use your workshop is not a true friend. At the end of the day even if Trump pisses Europe, Canada, and Mexico off those countries see it as a one-off and the relationship goes back to normal when he is out of office. On the other hand if a little flattery gets Kim away from China, gets the US out of the baby killing business in Syria and Yemen, and ends the Afghanistan fiasco then I don't give a shit about complimenting dictators.

B H Obama sold weapons to Vietnam, a country with endless human rights abuses. He bowed before foreign Monarchs, a much bigger stain on our countries honor than giving a compliment. G H Bush had countless infractions, W J Clinton. Then the whole shit with putting Saddam in power and we can't forget about Iran.

When Trump starts installing new dictators by replacing that countries Republic, then it will be time to care. But so far it looks like he is taking us out of the nation building business. The Kurds are already negotiating with Syria for a Iraqi style deal where they get some autonomy and parliamentary seats, plus oil revenues, in exchange for giving overall authority to Assad.

It wasn't just complimenting him, he totally gave in to him. The US cancelled military exercises with South Korea, which had long been a thorn in the North's side, in exchange for the DPRK making noises about disarmament while actually accelerating their armaments program. It was a win-win for North Korea. If Trump has another catastrophic-fail exchange like this, who knows what North Korea will get this time? So the best move would be for Trump to not try any more anything with DPRK, because who knows what he'll give them this time round.

And I had to close the White House Visitor Center. Which is weird in a way. Because I got used to so many visitors. An audience that came right to my house. And sometimes I'd put on a little show for them. Nothing dirty. But I'd say, why not buy one of my Books? Or a MAGA Hat? And I'd do the thing where I sign the Book. Or the Hat. By the way, they say Autopen, I never used the Autopen. Otherwise known as the Singing Robot. I signed each one by hand. I love working with my large hands -- I really miss that.

Last year, I was forced to cancel the summit meeting in Singapore with Kim Jung Un. He sent me a nasty note saying, "oh, maybe I'll have to cancel." And I had absolutely no idea he was going to say that. Who would expect that, right? So I wrote back, I said, "no you won't because I just did!" But the amazing White House Gift Shop already did the very special Coin. The Donald J. Trump Presidential Challenge Coin. And when Kim & I canceled, the collectors went absolutely nuts over that one. We canceled the summit and they lost their minds. They bought and bought and bought.

But then we decided to have the summit after all. That makes us smart. And the White House Gift Shop did another very special Coin. Even more special than the first one, because they did it with the Presidential Seal. And, I guess, the Korea Seal. They did a Limited Edition. And you're probably thinking, "oh, I missed the boat on that one, I'm much too late!" WRONG! Because people ordered the Coins, maybe they gave a Fake Address. They moved before the Coin arrived. Or they got it but they're afraid to show it to anyone because it's much too beautiful. And a few Coins came back. Which you can buy. Not in the White House. But over the modern digital. Also known as internet. Only $100 each, folks. Stock up, they're going fast! https://www.whitehousegiftshop.com/product-p/summitcoin.htm [whitehousegiftshop.com]

And you're probably thinking, "oh, they're doing another summit, so will they have another Coin?" We will, I guarantee it. It's going to have me & Kim again. But, a little older. Which is going to show on him a lot more than it does on me. Can we say dotard? Stay tuned!!

Meanwhile, the criminal khazar jewish terrorist state of israel continues to develop nuclear weapons and aims them at European nations in case they get attacked, ensuring that peaceful nations can be destroyed when the criminal terrorist jewish khazar state of israel is attacked and destroyed.

No word from Trump on that.

DPRK has never attacked another nation, landed soldiers on foreign land, bomb their schools, destroyed their infrastructure or threaten anyone in any way. The only thing they are guilty of doing is exercising their right of survival. Life is everybody's right.

You say "their right of survival." Otherwise known as their right to exist. I'm a very very strong believer in Israel's right to exist. By any means necessary. And that includes their nuclear. Iran has nuclear, why shouldn't Israel? And if they need help with the nuclear or the anything else, I'll be in my office. Or my bedroom. They can call me and we'll make a very fair deal. Jay Sekulow of the ACLJ, one of my incredible lawyers, has written a new book about Israel's right to exist. Sounds like you're a few decades behind. Israel is not "developing" a nuclear arsenal. It has been "developed". Today, maybe they are growing that arsenal, but it rivals that of the US in quality, and possibly in numbers. What they didn't figure out on their own, we gave them, and if we held anything back, they stole it. Israel can, all by itself, burn the world down, if they take a notion to do so.
