'Murdered' Russian journalist Arkady Babchenko turns up alive

A Russian journalist and critic of the Kremlin, reported to have been shot dead in Ukraine, showed up alive at a press conference on Wednesday to declare that his murder was faked by Ukrainian security services in an effort to foil an assassination plot against him.

In a stunning development, Arkady Babchenko, 41, walked into a room of journalists in Kiev who had been expecting to get an update on his murder.

He apologized to his wife Olechka -- who on Tuesday was reported to have found him bleeding to death at his apartment -- for the "hell" she had gone through. Ukrainian officials offered a jaw-dropping explanation for his so-called death -- to expose a Russian plot against him.

Script flipped.

Source: lived there for a year and a half after the conflict started.

Now, that right there is some "random stupid shit". About the only two excuses I can think of, is that you have family there, or you were a mercenary, who was paid to be there.

Guess you've never been to Kiev. It's a lot of fun. There is tourism, there are many international companies, and it helps when you speak a bunch of languages. My company has offices in 80 countries. I've been to over 50 and lived in several for extended periods of time in several. That's not random shit - that's the normal world of highly-paid professionals who aren't random linux geeks "coding" useless crap in their basement - it's the regular world some people live in. You're not a part of it, nor have the social skills or professional qualifications to be a part of it. Don't give it more thought. Just keep posting opinions on things you know nothing about - you're very entertaining.

linux geeks "coding" useless crap in their basement

The internet (of international acclaim) runs on a massive amount of "useless crap" coded by geeks in basements, garages, coffee shops, and otherwise.

You sound like the type of person the world is better off without since you can't even comprehend why people would be suspicious of "fakefuck39" posting on a geek forum to brag about how elite you are and how stupid and moronic the Ukrainians are. Given your defensiveness you're either full of shit, or you're a geek working for a big company and you're really insecure. Do they tease you? Are you the office nerd?

The internet is full of useless crap, and it looks like you're the one who codes is. Congratulations for making my point for me. There is another part of the internet where real companies do real business - appears you're not aware of that part. If an explanation of why I know about Ukraine sounds like defensive bragging to you, if you place value on people's usernames on some forum - well you're one of the people I'm on here to make fun of. A nerd I am, a dork I am not. I do and always have worked for big companies - that's where the money is.

idiot#1: the only reason someone could be in kiev is if they're a mercenary. they don't have computers of businesses over there
possibly-a-troll: i have a job and lifestyle that takes me to many countries, and kiev was a fun place
idiot#2: why are you getting defensive? your clearly the office nerd looking for social acceptance

No idea what a "lawl" is, nor do I care. Is that that the sound you used to make after people like me stuffed you into a locker in highschool or perhaps you have your own little dork language normal people don't understand?

WTF is "Triggered?" Are you a social justice warrior hipster of some sort? Go back to reddit kid - you've stumbled onto a site for old people. When someone is shitting all over you and dissing you - they're not "triggered," they're making fun of you kid, and wanting to make fun of some loser like you, that's not a negative thing.

Not necessarily, the Ukraine's a *big* place. It's perfectly plausible for it to be business as normal in the West, conflict in the East, and a huge area in-between. Despite the conflict and MH17, plenty of tourists still go there too - Kiev is a really cool city, and even hosted the Eurovision Song Contest (of all things!) in 2017. Even in Syria, where the conflict is somewhat more intense than it ever was in Eastern Ukraine, there's footage of people going about their lives pretty much as normal in one part of Damascus which looks mostly untouched while some of the suburbs are all but flattened.
