Anon from European country here. Uhm.. I liked your Bernie, the Ron Paul dude who looked like Magneto from the X-Men movies and if he would really do it instead of teasing Lawrence Lessig (creative-commons dude). HOWEVER, who I want to watch as your president on TV next, would preferably be uhm.. some of your Wrestlers (only if they keep the Wrestler persona in office) or perhaps one of your mega-corps (aren't they legally persons over-there?). Jesse Ventura? Unfortunately Arnold Schwartzenegger wasn't born in the U.S. so he's ineligible to be elected president.

As a number of people have pointed out, President Camacho, for all his many faults, is doing a few things most presidents these days aren't:
          1. He by all appearances is genuinely concerned about the many problems facing his country and is trying to solve them.
          2. His solution revolves around finding the smartest and most knowledgeable people he can to address the problem.
          3. He remains remarkably accessible to his constituents, to the point where anyone who wants to can show up to a kegger with the president.
          4. He willingly steps aside when a better leader shows up, and supports that successor.

    Feel the Bern!

Actually, I'm not all that excited about a Bernie Sanders presidency. He'd do a good job no doubt, but let's be frank: he's too old for the job. I'd rather not have a candidate running and have to seriously be concerned about who his vice-president is because of the likelihood that he would become president due to something "unfortunate" happening due the Sanders' advanced age.

If only we could cure or dramatically slow aging in the next 2-3 years.

As President, he would have access to some of the best health care in the world. The last President to die in office of natural causes was Franklin D. Roosevelt... at age 63. Ronald Reagan, Gerald Ford, and George H.W. Bush died at age 93-94. If Jimmy Carter lives for another 30 days, he will become the oldest former U.S. President in history.

True, but people with access to great health care die every day. One should also keep in mind that being the president ages the incumbent tremendously. Bush Jr., Obama, and Carter all noticeably aged significantly while they were in office. And you should look at pictures of President Lincoln taken in 1860 and then compare them to those taken in 1865. How would this affect a president who is already quite old? That is an interesting question.

The worst that can happen is what happened to William Henry Harrison, who got sick on his inauguration day and never recovered.

My take on the age thing: Yes, Bernie's old. He's also in pretty good health for his age - last time he ran, he was on video running and shooting hoops. If his VP is someone who is closely aligned with his goals then him dying in office or resigning due to illness won't be all that disruptive really. There are even a provision in the 25th Amendment for a president to voluntarily turn things over to the VP temporarily if they are unable to do their job (this has happened a few times due to presidents undergoing medical procedures), and also a provision for his VP and cabinet to take control if he's unable to make that declaration himself (e.g. he's in a coma). Having a closely aligned VP is also important for preventing assassination, which is an issue for the vast majority of presidents.

I definitely get the impression that presidents age prematurely though: It looks to me like 1 year as president = about 2.5 years for a normal person. If Bernie won, he'd end his first term with the health of about a 90-year-old, which could be a serious problem or could be like my fairly healthy grandmother who's a bit older than that.

The Democratic Party is still the corrupt monster that rigged the nomination for Hillary. They won't get a vote from me again for so much as dogcatcher.

Even if they hadn't rigged the nomination, I wouldn't vote for them anymore because they have jumped off the cliffs of insanity. The people who have become the darlings there want to kill me because I am a white Christian heterosexual man. They want everyone to bend over backwards to appease an infinitesimally small percentage of the population who don't know if they're boys or girls. They actively hate America and everything it stands for. They want to expand a government that desperately needs to be scrapped and rebuilt from scratch to 21st century standards.

Finally, I wouldn't vote for Democrats because the 1%/Masters of the Universe/Deep State have their hands firmly up their backside and use them like sock puppets. I want to chop off the hand that animates the puppet, not watch it dance some more.

As such, I have no interest in voting for Bernie Sanders as a Democrat, even though he was my pick last time. If he ran as an independent I might consider him, but it's also a fact that he's very old now.

At this rate, Trump may very well win again in 2020. All the DNC needs to do is run a candidate with no controversies or scandals, since Trump thrives on character assassination. Who are the candidates so far? Elizabeth Warren, who has already been mocked repeatedly by Trump for falsely saying that she's Native; Kamala Harris, who is being accused of helping Jussie to fake his lynching to push her anti-lynching bill; and Bernie Sanders, a socialist in a country where over half of the population thinks the government shouldn't even cover healthcare, who never accomplished anything in congress for over 20 years, and has made offensive comments about rape in the past, which will kill him in the #metoo era. It's a given that Trump won't accept loss, as he established in 2016, so having a clean opponent is especially important to rally the country around instead of dividing the country and potentially allowing Trump to stay in government without being elected, because he will likely try that.
